I can be plotting the downthrow of the Broligarchy while enjoying these tiny snowmen left on the ledges overlooking the falls at Letchworth…

Tonight, I’m just feeling so sad for the people who are being fired from their jobs for no reason - losing their financial security, their social/work relationships, and the context for using their skills and knowledge in the way they had chosen. It’s awful.

I can tell I’m in an information bubble. I follow a LOT of people, and every one of them posts about the horrible thing of the day and then says - Why is no one talking about this? - when, on my feed - EVERYONE is talking about this.

Freezing cold temps - blazing hot spirits. Over 100 gathered in small town (Lima) NY today.

What are some good protest signs?

“People need to wake up and pay attention to what’s happening” - unless you’re so attentive, SO Awake, SOO aWare that you may never sleep again.

A reality that I’ve not heard anyone discuss yet is how we address a coup that is happening on a cyber level. While traditional forms of protest still have value, this is a takeover happening via hacking and coding and stealing/shuffling data. Most of us can’t even remember our passwords…

Yes. “People are doing things. You will meet them when YOU start doing things.” Lots of information and resources in this one. open.substack.com/pub/sherrily...

Is there any way to lean on/pressure “mainstream” media into actually doing their job and reporting the reality of what’s happening? Or is ditching them the only option (which is what most of us here have done.)

Wouldn’t it be something to live in a country where, after a truly tragic event, our leader gathered us in with words of shared grief and healing comfort…

Can we please pass a law that disallows any government decisions being put into effect via tweet?

This is a guy who is also hanging out on the golf course already. There’s no way that all these Executive Orders are being created and understood by him. Will it make me look tough? Will it make me money? Will it make libs cry? Cool. I’ll sign it. Puppet.

Once in a while I just have to say this out loud. It’s not all the men, but it’s the men. There. I said it.

Has the drafting of articles of impeachment begun yet?

From my late husband, Miché Fambro - lifting up MLK on this day of national shame and mourning. youtu.be/otoYmpGgvbw?...

Unpopular take - I follow a lot of internet journalists and commentators, but I’m really tired of folks talking while holding a mug of coffee, putting on makeup, lying in bed, or leaning onto a counter. Just sit/stand still and tell me what’s on your mind.

I keep asking myself whether it is really possible to stuff educated, independent, deeply connected women back into some subservient breeder box just because a bunch of dudes say so? How does that happen?

Wishing everyone a Happy New Year - in spite of, in the midst of, and in defiance of it all.

Well, he got to vote for Kamala, and left before having to witness Jan 20th. Well played, sir. #JimmyCarter

For all of us who have reasons not to consume the news 24/7, but who want to be engaged in the resistance - still seeking suggestions for a daily email with one action per day - ie - write to your rep about this bill, or sign this, or show up for this.

People are asking how we can celebrate when the future is so bleak. For me, I’m making beautiful memories with/for my granddaughters like it’s my job (though it is actually my joy.) I want them to have these memories at their very core to sustain and empower them. They will know what life should be.

Every news item is basically - “This filthy rich white guy is doing something illegal or immoral or generally horrific, and absolutely nothing is going to happen and he will face zero consequences, and tomorrow he will be even richer.”

I guess I could research this, but - can a President just launch a new government Dept (ie. DOGE) to (ironically) make the govt more efficient, and put random guys in charge of cutting budgets/programs/personnel? Or will they just “suggest” cuts? How does this work?

It is so nauseating that after Nov 5, we immediately moved back into a 24hr non-stop Trumpfest. He’s not even back in office yet. Escape was SOOO close….

One man can’t take power. But one man can be given power. I can’t stand Trump, but I reserve my anger for every single person who keeps saying Yes to him.

Two pet peeves for a Tuesday - 1. America is not “ready” for a woman President. This is just stupid. 2. College students who invade the local gym despite very nice campus facilities, then sit on the equipment texting.

A media dream - many of the writers whose journalism I trust are on Substack or Patreon. I can’t afford to subscribe to each one. Wish there was a central progressive media hub that I could subscribe to who would divvy one payment between them. Like Bookshop.org but for news.

Did anyone get to watch the call with Harris/Walz today? Is there anywhere I can watch it?

I get so sick of having to exist in a “reality” created by humans that forces a huge number of those humans to spend their limited, precious lives fighting to just exist as themselves. It’s just such a waste.

Does anyone else call this app blueskee in their head?

How did I end up with a cat pictures algorithm for my feed here? Sorry y’all - I’m a dog gal.

I have a ton of apps and sources for my need to stay politically informed and active. I’d enjoy connecting with folks here for more personally enriching conversation. Random life stuff. For example, today I’m buying a motorcycle jacket before I even own a motorcycle - building toward my future me.
