Painkiller rock bar in Kokubunji, Tokyo. The "heaviest heavy metal spot". It's so heavy, it's in the basement. I love Tokyo's zoning laws.

Tateyama station, Toyama prefecture, Japan. The snow is receding and the cherry blossoms are out. April 18, 2025.

On April 18, 2025 at Tateyama, Toyama prefecture, Japan. At 2,400 meters it was painfully bright and white balance agreement eluded me.

One wonders what happened.

Crow on a fence in Koganei, Tokyo. Japan's crows are downright respectful. They vocalize, they break into the garbage, but they're the polar opposite of currawongs and magpies and the like.

Somewhere in the vast sea of housing surrounding Tokyo. Kokubunji, April 2025.

Rain weighs heavy on a blossom in Tokyo, late March 2025.

How much rain can a blossom sustain?

Heading home with a new (to me) OM System OM-5 and its 12-45mm f/4 kit lens. Very pleased with such manual exposures in low light.

A Dutch friend is going through a rough patch. As a Canadian, I told him, "At least the Sock-puppet Sauron hasn't cast his eye on your country." It managed to cheer him for a moment, anyway.

There are buds on some trees in Tokyo.

This is a shrine gateway in Tachikawa in western Tokyo, called Atagojinjatorii. It's close to what I believe is the geographic center of Tokyo prefecture.

I'm finding the combination of a humble 16MP Olympus mirrorless camera and the inexpensive manual-focus Chinese lenses I'm using these days very effective.

I found this wading pool outside an abandoned residential building in Nichinan, Miyazaki prefecture.

Gion shrine in Nichinan, Miyazaki. The shrine is in a cave well back from the road.

On new year's eve I went for a walk (not suspecting I had the flu coming on). I found this bike shop that I think was abandoned. I think the thing with the ropes was once a window-washer's platform. It was full of trophies from the '70s and '80s when the bike shop was at the height of its power.
