Hold your breath and look to Germany: its election could decide the fate of Europe – and the UK | Martin Kettle

Please everybody wake up. It is really a problem that democracies always sit out problems for so long. There is no guarantee that things will end well.

Canada has a tiny military, no allies that can supply it because of its isolation & NORAD, and, looking at WWII precedents, any resistance in case of a conflict tends to be small. "Canada will probably become a client state." Should I go back to Europe now? 😧 www.youtube.com/watch?v=Geui...

I love where I live. #Fightfascism.

NATO looks somewhat dead now. www.youtube.com/watch?v=rTCI...

If I have to bet I would say Canada is not going to exist in 2 years anymore. I think most Canadians have no clue how much economic leverage the US has over them. It can literally starve Canada to death through a naval blockade without any direct military engagement. Most people are still in denial.

Canadian EU membership is becoming more palatable, as strange as it seems. Probably it is just going to be more treatises, but it is also good for Europe to think more out of the box. www.youtube.com/watch?v=HJKe...

Maybe we should demand that only white animals/plants are allowed from now on and wage war on wokeism in nature... Fast track to extinction. 🚀

You can ignore climate change. The political system can ignore climate change. But the insurance industry cannot ignore climate change.

The only way I can interpret the GOP's actions is that they are 100% certain they will never face another democratic election again. They hit the shore and burned their ships.

feel free to fight me: progressives will not be successful until they appreciate the importance of entrepreneurship 🌱 and successful economics 📈

That is right. A successful Germany needs the EU. It is the most important market for Germany.

Main take away: Nuclear energy production always was a massive money grab because it is a capital intensive monopoly business. Once you buy into it they can charge the utilities whatever they want and never deliver. Plant manufacturers like BBC explicitly strategized like this in Germany in the 80s.

Another good video by @garyseconomics.bsky.social on how to think about immigration, inequality and resistance to the right-wing surge. It is important not to fight the right-wing arguments, but rather focus on the actual economic problems and spread the word. www.youtube.com/watch?v=MCqf...
