‘We’re losing decades of our life to this illness’: long Covid patients on the fear of being forgotten #LongCOVID #COVIDisNotOVER

I also obsessed over The Wall for a few months, although earlier — I think I was 15 — so sympathize. I’ve also met a lot of unusually cruel and antisocial people who graduated from Harvard.

This was the end goal of crypto aligning behind Trump - the crypto economy has very few actual dollars in it and relies on finding new people to hold the bag to get their dollars. The US government is the ultimate bag holder and they’re going to use your tax dollars to bail out crypto owners.

The backbone of our research infrastructure has been purposely sabotaged, all our futures are at risk. I want you to ask your legislators why this act of terrorism has not been addressed. Doge blew up our research pipeline and Musk must face justice for intentional acts of sabotage and terror. 🧪

More than any other single innovation, the shipping container epitomizes the enormity, sophistication, and importance of our modern transportation system. 🧪

If we’re making lists, I think that the five bullets in CDC’s Pledge to the American People are an excellent place to start. I have been at the agency for almost 20 years, and have met very few people in public health service who don’t strive for and embody these ideals www.cdc.gov/about/pledge...

I’ve suffered from a rare disease that’s changed and challenged my life in ways I’d never wish on anyone, but I’ve learned more about myself and how to live life with grace. I’m still fighting and the only thing that keeps me going is hope. On the darkest of days it’s been my anchor. #rarediseaseday

“It’s almost as if tech leaders took the wrong lessons from the film. Perhaps that’s because, in hindsight, Samantha can feel more like a technological marvel than a catalyst for human isolation.”

Today is Rare Disease Day, and a great reminder of the importance of NIH and science funding in driving hope 🧬⬇️ www.rarediseaseday.org

I'm exhausted, and I know you are too. But I see you. I hear you. And we will prevail. 🧪

It's near impossible to "pull yourself up by your bootstraps" in the U.S., which is a bullshit saying to make people feel bad for being unable to overcome ridiculous odds.

In normal times, I'd have written about this #MMWR report about some of the kids who've died from #flu this year having had a severe neurological condition called influenza-associated encephalopathy or encephalitis. Glad to see @cidrap.bsky.social did write! www.cidrap.umn.edu/influenza-ge...

When I was talking a lot about getting prepared for FEMA cuts and trade war, someone told me apologetically needed to mute me because it was stressful hearing about preparation they couldn't afford to do. That's a huge stress right now for ALL of us, I think-- there is no getting fully prepared.

This year, lawmakers have introduced about 90 bills related to wildfires, with about half related to mitigation. But prospects for the bills are uncertain, especially since several are being reintroduced after failing in previous years. cal.news/3EUuvEC 📝 Sameea Kamal

Yes! We need to seriously be thinking about the future of #ScientificPublishing, and how this can be optimized for future generations of researchers. Great post in @scholarlykitchen.bsky.social by @acochran12733.bsky.social bringing this issue to the forefront. 🧪 #SciPub #AcademicSky

Now is the time to explain to our friends what is happening & urge them to get active. Examples help! On how EPA works: "One of its enforcement teams raided a warehouse in Colorado full of mislabeled oil barrels that had been prepared for a landfill and discovered they contained nuclear waste."

Public health is cool Now, if we can do more public health and prevent the outbreak from happening in the first place... that would be cooler

No new cases of measles among vaccinated individuals since the last update. We know how to stop measles—high vaccination rates work. #PublicHealth

This is just one of the many times that we ABSOLUTELY NEED a functioning CDC and USAID to be coordinating with the WHO to understand this unidentified infectious disease quickly and efficiently. Why are we going backwards? #medsky #IDsky 🧪😷 #publichealth
