Hang on a minute. Wasn’t the Government trying to reduce inflation? Govt set to hike insurance costs $400/year thekaka.substack.com/p/govt-set-t...

Not completely comparable but BC Ferries has 45 vessels for a population of 5.6m people, NZ has 3 Interislander Ferries & 2 Bluebridge Ferries #Vancouver #Nikon #Photography #BritishColumbia #Boats

The French Parliament has approved a ban on the manufacture, import, and sale of #PFAS in cosmetics, ski wax, and clothing by January 2026, which will be extended to all textiles in 2030.

suddenly reminded of Pip Adam's short story 'A Problem', in which the men of the world come together to find an engineering solution for why men keep harming women, and would you believe their ideas are not good

spoiler: the answer it spat out was from an already published paper but the BBC is basically the yellow pages for llm scams at this point so that part was conveniently left out of this piece

Would love to be a fly on the wall listening in on the kōrero between Tangata Whenua and the Crown about what can be done about the Crown's problem child (our Parliament) blatantly overstepping its authority and constantly dishonouring Te Tiriti o Waitangi.🪰👂👁️👁️😮 ❤️🤍🖤 #Eviction #nzpol

Do this. Say this. 👇🏻

Time for Expansionary Fiscal Policy Not slash and burn budgets that have plunged us into a very deep recession

This thread is about musk, but this post is 💯 #nzpol

#nzpol

any further both-sides'ing from Aotearoa's MSM about Brian Tamaki and his Destiny Church needs to be treated with deserved scorn this horsefuckery has gone on way too long #nzpol

This is why we are in the transport shit hole we are now None of this is good for #NewZealand just the vested interests, policy run by lobbyists #nzpol

“There is just a fuck ton of jobs in Australia where the pay is like 30 grand a year more,” she says, and a friend from her programme got a job there “without even trying”. “I just feel like New Zealand really fucking sucks right now.” #nzpol

Fascinating stuff. Mike Smith’s groundbreaking case against @Fonterra and NZ’s other worst climate polluters is back to the Supreme Court #climatelitigation #nzpol #climatecrisis #toomanycows

Agree. I’m with those who want to stop Deep Sea Mining www.rnz.co.nz/internationa...

Reading about how today's short-notice protest in Auckland went well, which is great. And if the IPCA had their way, the police, having overpoliced the event, would be able to charge the organisers for their (completely unnecessary) costs. Which is Not Great.

“Rainbow community stands against Tamaki, Destiny Church at Auckland's Albert Park” www.rnz.co.nz/news/nationa...

My parents here in Tāmaki have a childhood friend visiting from Canada who happens to be a Trump supporter. Apparently her month here out of the bubble and watching NZ media perspectives of the USA has started shifting her politics.

So far I've only seen digital coverage on RNZ This seems to indicate NZ media have a vested interest in publishing far-right activism above & beyond the way they cover peaceful progressive movements We should be *scrambling* to ask why that is & seeking to change it - its an outrageous precedent

Rainbow community stand in solidarity against Destiny Church www.rnz.co.nz/news/nationa...

Defying Destiny was a great time. Nothing like spending a few hours in the park filled with hundreds of lovely queer folks on a perfect sunny day I'm kind of amazed at how well the organisers did putting this together in such a short time. The speakers were empowering We're going to win

And here is Luxon last year salivating at wealthy money from overseas. To repeat: They are doing away with due diligence and fundamental business case practice. In an article last year, foreign investors said Kiwi assets "were cheap" and the government in charge is "friendly". #nzpol #kiwi

If Seymour is so confident that foreign investment will raise wages, he'll have 0 issue writing "starting salary of a living wage for every employee" into the legislation right? #nzpol

Seymour's masters have made the call. Another Sunday announcement, another instance of the tail wagging the dog. #nzpol

“Luxon & Willis who were so against Robertson’s borrowing to get NZ thru Covid-19 & Cyclone Gabrielle, inexplicably chose to give up large chunk of revenue in tax cuts (mostly for landlords & already well-paid) & fill the gap in their self-created structural deficit with INCREASED borrowing.” #nzpol

#nzpol it is truly a wonder to behold <sarcasm>

Whenever I meet new people at the moment and they find out I work in healthcare they say "oh I'm so sorry, that must be so hard with our current government" It's surprised me because even people I was expecting to be fairly politically conservative have had a clear sense the things are dire #nzpol

Something pretty exciting I've been working on - a dashboard to track and explore NZ political ads on Meta and Google - categorised by party, government level and electorate. #nzpol theprogressreport.co.nz/ad-tracker/

I think a bunch of people on here need to stop pretending luxon a passive player to the anti Tiriti stuff. He presents as a vacant shell, sure, but he is what he does, and what he is doing is anti Tiriti.

I actually managed to find the funny in this one. Yeah, I know, under THESE conditions?! Remarkable. I’ll do a shot of Novichok to celebrate. Russian warship, go fuck yourself! Here’s my take: Are Trump, Musk & Johnson KGB Agents? Yeah, Probably. youtu.be/XvBGrQ8gKEg?...

Tan is spilling the tea! 🫖 "Are Trump Musk & Johnson KGB agents. Yeah probably." #nzpol

A: it's premium so not a lot of point sharing, & B: the continued plastering of her face over every negative headline is reinforcing negative images of the ex-MP & more than likely re-traumatising her & her whanau. But the headline itself is damning. 100% unacceptable.

Paul's right - the way this is being reported is deeply inappropriate, and at the same time, the targeting of Ghahraman has exposed a huge, troubling, and ongoing invasion of the privacy of all of us. Firing a few security guards doesn't even begin to address the issues it raises. #nzpol

This time the box is full of booze. #nzpol

Musk, a neo-Nazi and friend of Putin, says all US government staff must justify their work or lose jobs And today, NZ’s Government has ensured people like Musk can buy up NZ without resistance. Who does your government work for again? #nzpol #kiwi #aotearoa

An absolute must read for anyone interested in public health. Everyone, in other words. #nzpol
