Mutual Aid: A Factor of Evolution

Amazing victory for Palestine solidarity activists in Brighton as local firm cuts links with arms manufacturers supplying Israel’s genocide. No bombs from Brighton!

A good account of Hamas, where it came from and how it got where it is. Gives you an insight into the absurd hall of mirrors our media leaves us in, where Hamas are just barbaric savages without rhyme or reason, whereas the Israeli state is totally fine and normal. www.lrb.co.uk/the-paper/v4...

Who wants to get sent to one of RFK’s not-at-all-ominous and definitely voluntary “wellness farms”? www.motherjones.com/politics/202...

This from Paolo Friere kind of jumped out at me... 'When their efforts to act responsibly are frustrated... people suffer... But the inability to act which causes people's anguish also causes them to reject their impotence, by attempting "...to restore [their] capacity to act.

Upcoming antifascist callout in Manchester 22nd Feb against far-right goon Nick Tenconi and his UKIP/Turning Point rabble

Great looking events coming up in Brighton from Transform Brighton and Hove. Seems like a really nice format, bring different political tendencies and different generations together.

I think this is a really important point. Trying to understand what is going on with the neverending “legitimate concerns” and why attempts to appease them never work. You need to fight a basic narrative with a different narrative, not agree with their story but quibble about the numbers.

One for Bristol folks if you're interested in getting involved in antifascist organising in the South West*, or anywhere, or if your just interested in the history of the antifasist movement, this will be really good, and is a good starting point if you've wanted to get involved but aren't sure how.

Ooh, it’s the 35-years-later apartheid South Africa takeover of the USA. Bit of a wildcard that… Not one we saw coming.

Went to an amazing event showing the London Recruits film at Palestine House in London The film tells the story of white radicals recruited by the ANC to travel undercover in apartheid South Africa to carry out propaganda actions to give hope after the crushing of the movement youtu.be/E8fPeRLQlc8

There’s been a whole spate of similar examples, showing that anti-DEI policies are ultimately a push for re-segregation. And also that huge amounts of agencies and businesses are just falling into line with it. It’s only where there is popular resistance that they are pushed back.

Wow. Turns out there is a line somewhere. Frankly shocked he didn’t just shrug and carry on.

Cat speaks more truth than newspapers and elected leaders. Again.

just saying: it's possible that "I'm gonna dramatically constrict my state capacity while plotting dramatic imperial expansion, and expanding my set of internal enemies while alienating most of my foreign allies" is the beginning of a world-historical masterstroke. but also possible that it isn't

Feels like many people are watching the Trump/Musk coup-cum-bonfire right now and learning lessons from it. You can just do that. No one will stop you. This feels ominous for the futures of those of us outside the US too. I can feel Badenoch and Farage taking notes.

Obvs it’s all insane. But I find it extra insane that Musk/Trump are apparently trying to fire all the CIA and the FBI. Obvs Trump hates the FBI for Reasons, but still. If you’re so against the Federal Government are you going to get rid of the military and the cops? Or are some things sacred?

Rediscovering Bowie’s Lodger. My dad had a copy. I listened to it when maybe I was too young. I didn’t get it and thought it was just weird. A bit like trying food once when you’re a kid and then just remembering forever that you don’t like it (hello plums).

Everyone should be made to read Stuart Hall. He writes so well, elegantly and clearly about politics and society. And almost everything he writes is so prophetic. It’s like a weird deja vu timewarp. Him writing about Thatcherism feels like it could have been written yesterday.

Ok. That is pretty funny. Makes up for Alex Jones (maybe) getting infowars back.

Anytime you accept a dual standard based on racism - that someone else *over there* somewhere should have a different standard of rights, of treatment … that stuff is coming back to bite you in the arse

What could possibly have caused the white South African Nazi billionaire to have a go at South African land reform?

And thus it is revealed that the law isn’t magic and politics is about power.

The USA shows what is likely in the pipeline for many of us. Communities that have practised habits of autonomy, mutual aid, resilience and resistance to power are going to be better placed in the coming years than people who placed all their faith in the system.
