You won't find much original commentary from me here, which is probably better for everybody involved.

it's important to remember that black history isn't just about movements and towering figures. some of you are the first in your family to graduate, own a business, own a home, educate others, seek therapy, master a recipe, share your art, rest, come out a closet, etc. that is black history too.

Every few months like clockwork, these eugenicist, child abusing nazis show up getting glamorous glow up profiles in national media. Insane how astroturfed this stuff is.

i know people are coming here for catharsis and that's fine but when you are done screaming please pick something you can do that will help people and do it. you don't accomplish anything by rolling around in the fear all day

Fucking NYT.

Wired continuing to run circles around the NYT & WaPo & like every other Important Newspaper www.wired.com/story/elon-m...

[slaps roof] this bad boy can fit so many kinds of illegal

Any four Republican Senators could stop this at any time simply by threatening to block all action (or even caucus with the Democrats) if Trump doesn't make certain concessions. They won't, but that should be a much bigger story than whether the Democrats are doing everything that *they* can.

Let's be clear about what happened today: Donald Trump tried to cut a giant chunk of government funding — hurting preschoolers, seniors, and veterans. Trump's illegal shutdown is blocked for now — but don't forget that he tried to cut programs supporting working families.

i have to assume that “pursuing DEI efforts” means hiring anyone who isn’t a white man?

Opinion | As a seasoned Republican senator, I know that Hegseth, Gabbard, and Patel are historically awful nominees. But if I don’t vote for them, I’ll be primaried by someone who’d stand back and let Trump destroy our government.

it’s becoming increasingly clear the goal of the far right is to defund and buy up every source of reliable information until there is no more objective reality to counter them

Trump has signed an executive order eliminating all funding for diversity and inclusion in the federal government, sending home DEI staff who will then be laid off. The historical echo for this is when Woodrow Wilson resegregated the federal government in 1913. We have reached the second nadir.

JUST NOW: “Obviously, we didn’t get to beep that.” CNN’s Pamela Brown reacts to Officer Fanone’s choice words for the head of the Oath Keepers Trump just pardoned after his seditious conspiracy conviction, who says he has no regrets.

This is effectively a snitch on women, people of color, and LGBTQ folks policy. White men can just baselessly accuse any minority of being DEI and get them fired. They created a permission structure to bring back segregation as a matter of policy by calling it anti DEI.

Guys when Chris Rufo and Trump say "We're destroying DEI, we're salting the earth underneath it" and they're talking about regulations that reach back to 1965, they're not talking about corporate diversity trainings. They are talking about civil rights

The New York Times avails itself of written communication that obfuscates the evident connotation of veracity

I’m just going to say that AOC is the acting leader of the Democratic Party until someone proves otherwise. At least insofar as she is responding to the moment with leadership.

NEW: Platformer has obtained the dehumanizing new guidelines moderating what people can now say about trans people on Facebook and Instagram. Employees tell me these changes are likely to inspire more violence against LGBT people: www.platformer.news/meta-new-tra...

Seems like the New York Times should try hiring someone who actually understands politics.

Please stop saying "rolled back diversity goals" and start saying "the company capitulated to a segregationist movement." www.nbcnews.com/news/amp/rcn...

"A 2021 study found that proportionate representation on juries could reduce median sentence terms by 50%. “More perspectives on juries means more understanding,” said Elizabeth Swartz, legal counsel on efforts to diversify New Jersey's juries.boltsmag.org/new-jer..."

Oh, did he “tease” seizing other countries’ territory, @cnn.com? What a little scamp he is. What an incorrigible rascal.

🔥 TWAS THE STRIKE BEFORE CHRISTMAS! 🔥✊ Starbucks baristas are going on five days of escalating ULP strikes in response to the company backtracking on our promised path forward, starting tomorrow in Los Angeles, Chicago, and Seattle... and soon, from coast-to-coast. 🧵

Clown shit. ACAB includes these posers.

If you see anyone talking about how the Amazon strike could disrupt the flow of packages:

Philly has beautiful murals all over the place. Here is one you can’t see from the ground - only from our hotel window

Someone chided me for being a “jerk” to the hucksters pushing AI in classrooms. I’ll just say that given how deeply opposed I am to all that, “jerk” is probably going to be my mildest setting. So if you get the vapors when people yell at snake oil salesmen, you may just want to block me.

I know we’re living in a simulation because people are out here acting like they enjoy Crumbl cookies. Fuck those 3D printed ass fake food cookies

Judith Butler is 100% correct. The word "woke" is pure reactionary bullshit. Its contemporary meaning also distorts history by making it seem as if every positive cultural change of the past 200 years has happened naturally, without agitation by people considered, at the time, dangerously "woke."

This is heartbreaking. Also? most of the resistance bellends in the quotes and replies gloating about this man getting what he voted for didn't bother to read the headline and link much less the article. Imagine being excited about deporting someone. Jesus Christ y'all. Get it together. READ THINGS

I think that folks aren't seriously thinking about the implications of young adults who know nothing other than a country which has normalized MAGA politics, God help us all.

I recall Larry Hogan being repeatedly held up as proof of there still being plenty of reasonable, thoughtful Republicans. He just fueled a panic over at a right-wing propaganda site because he can't recognize the stars that have been over his head his whole life.

Smoking will kill you... Bacon will kill you... But, smoking bacon will cure it.

This is one way the media played a massive role in getting Trump elected. Every Biden and Harris faux pas, however minor, was covered with at least as much attention as the worst Trump offenses (Trump commits a minor faux pas every roughly 20 seconds, so there's no real way to cover those).

"Some of the lights Mr. Hogan had captured were stars in the constellation Orion"

We sometimes throw “must read” around casually, but this, truly, is a must read. @davidmcswane.bsky.social is one of the finest investigative reporters in the United States, and this story is a masterwork. If you read it, you won’t forget it. @propublica.org www.propublica.org/article/thom...
