@karaswisher.bsky.social — Please correct me if I'm wrong in my assessment of your message. After reading through the comments on this post, I feel that many on both sides of the divide are missing the main point. Kara is not making a judgment on whether Trump should be likened to...

This speech by French Senator Claude Malhuret captures best the geopolitical and economic crisis caused by Trump's infatuation with authoritarian leaders and his greed for unbridled power and material wealth, as well as the critical moment facing Europe and, by extension, Canada.

One of my takeaways: "This trade war is, more than anything, the perfect opportunity to rethink the future of energy in Canada—specifically, how we approach renewable sources. Our oil and gas won’t last forever."

Here's a follow-up to yesterday's post featuring John Turner. In this clip, he discusses one major reason he opposed NAFTA. Make sure to watch until the end for a prediction he made that has now become a key motivating factor behind Trump's interest in annexing Canada. #canadasovereign

Seriously, can and will Europe and Canada capitalise on US slipping towards fascism? 🧪 #science

Trump's imperialistic ambitions and threats to employ economic warfare against Canada to make it the 51st state are a crisis that has been lurking in the shadows for decades. In 1988, during a debate, John Turner warned Brian Mulroney about the implications of NAFTA on Canadian sovereignty:

@mark-carney.bsky.social — We must seize this unique moment justly and fairly, for the benefit of Canada as a sovereign nation, all Canadians, and the entrepreneurial landscape. @canadiansorg.bsky.social #canadasovereign #negotiatefairly #investfairly #payfairly

Trump mantra — "We don't need their energy, we don't need their lumber, we don't need anything that they give. [...] We have more than they do. We don't need anything." Perfect, then Canada doesn't need to become the 51st state. #canadasovereign #negotiatefairly #payfairly

Trump claims that Tesla protesters are paid agitators, and should be labelled domestic terrorists. This kind of rhetoric is characteristic of authoritarian leaders, denying free will and attacking freedom of speech and assembly. Such statements aim to dehumanise individuals and suppress dissent.

With everything happening in geopolitics and the direction the world appears to be heading, I feel a strong urge to share some observations and cut through the noise that often obscures real issues. I hope to offer different perspectives and spark meaningful questions and discussions.
