My biggest takeaway from Dr Who Joy To The World is that I love the interpretation of the Doctor as a weird gremlin man who lives in the walls of the universe and steals your milk and cheese in the night but everyone's okay with it because he's very nice and saves the day now and then

He truly cared about Ian & Barbara and it’s just wonderful to see his tough guy persona slip every now and then. In the scenes before this, when Ian & Barbara finally return home he can’t even look as the ship vanishes. It breaks both of his hearts to let them go, it scares him.
