News (Re: UK Furs): Due to reasons that have not yet been disclosed, Furcation is being moved from 2025 to 2026 (not an outright con cancellation). (bsky.app/profile/furc...)

There's an anti-furry hit piece in UK rightwing tabloid/hateful TERF aligned news. Short thread: archive of article, angry reaction from insiders, and more critical opinion. archive.ph/WI1cB

A congressman targeted University of Tennessee for pressure about a club for furries, at the same as they're starting with military schools (West Point) and removing any club that isn't for straight white men. www.wate.com/news/top-sto...

(Late notice): Ostrich (Marshall Anthony “Tony” Wood), OG fandom member and fursuiter best known for his appearance on Vanity Fair's "Pleasures of the Fur" and the BBC's "Anna in Wonderland" ("Anna Meets the Furries"), passed away late 2024. RIP en.wikifur.com/wiki/Ostrich...

(Another artist loss): Furrst Fandom (founding member of the fandom) artist Richard Bartrop passed way on the late hours of December 8, 2024, of unknown health reasons.

@dineegla.bsky.social, full Dineegla G. Moose, also known as Kristiaan Michells, a pro/furry greymuzzle artist/writer best known for introducing Muscle Furs to the furry fandom, passed away yesterday due to unknown circumstances. en.wikifur.com/wiki/Dineegla

Ed Zolna, owner of the website "Second Ed Mailorder" and purveyor of items of furry interest to the furry fandom (books, comics, etc...) stated that the site will shut down in December 2024 or early 2025. The reason given was due to him suffering from (terminal) cancer.

Seriously though. It's ALWAYS "5 years ago" It's always whining about the entirely fictional "Golden Age of the Fandom" being over when it literally was NEVER a thing. (If anything, I'd go as far to say RIGHT NOW is the Golden Age, we've never been as well organized as we are right now)

Young furs, bad actors will try and tell you furry was "recently taken over" by "minorities" but that's BS. The 1st con was started by a same-sex couple. The 1st fursona was created by a black guy. The 1st famous Fursuiter was a female character played by a man. Furry not a CisHet white guy thing.

From the hand of #StephanPastis. On point.

Just FYI, Dragoneer’s Wikifur accounts (Preyfar, etc), were taken over almost immediately after his passing, just used for vandalism (…original…) but promptly banned, way before the hacker (same individual?, unknown) started taking over his X account and FA proper.

Furry artist and fandom influencer Dragoneer (aka Neer, formally known as Preyfar), owner of @FurAffinity, has passed away due to pulmonary issues. RIP

Taral Wayne's Wikifur page (as requested via DMs):

Considered one of the first, furry artist in the fandom (if not the first), and Hugo nominee Taral Wayne has passed away due to poor health issues.

Artist Auryanne (Heather Riesen, aka Dancing Hare, Shenandoah) of Neopets and "A Fierce Bad Rabbit" webcomic fame, has been moved to a hospice due to illness. Prayers and thoughts for her husband and family are welcomed. en.wikifur.com/wiki/Auryanne

Unfortunately, the furry death tally for this month stands now at 3: * Pro artist Scott Albert Henry Ruggels (Scott Ruggels, en.wikifur.com/wiki/Scott_R...) * Furry artist Jed Gary Martinez (RobCat, en.wikifur.com/wiki/Jed_Gar...) * Furry fan Puppers (en.wikifur.com/wiki/Puppers) RIP

A Happy New Year to everybody in the fandom!.🎆
