If only someone could have predicted...

💔

BREAKING: Social Security’s trustees report that the system is fully affordable, as long as we make the wealthy pay in at the same rate as the rest of us.

We must prevent Iran from ever having a nuclear weapon, and support Israel’s ability to defend itself. But the President cannot declare war on Iran or launch strikes against it without Congressional approval. Congress must not cede that authority to this or any other president.

Gore winning 2000 means no Alito or Roberts. Clinton winning 2016 means no Kavanaugh, Gorsuch, or Barrett. A few thousand votes' difference means misery and terror for millions.

If Harris had been elected instead of Trump, there would be hundreds of thousands of children who hadn’t starved to death or died of treatable AIDS and we wouldn’t be on the verge of war with Iran. Anybody who doesn’t acknowledge this as a starting point has nothing to say worth hearing.

Is the floor so low we’re only half-expecting an apology from a Senator who mocked the assasination of politicians he didn’t like? Or is there just no floor at all anymore? Mike Lee should resign. Today.

I am watching Sen. Alex Padilla talk on the Senate floor about being assaulted last week, as I watch New York City controller Brad Lander get assaulted at immigration court. In between reports on the two MN Democrats shot, one murdered, last weekend. But both sides, people, both sides.

Never Trump Republicans act as if they speak for a key voting bloc, but they don't. Republicans expelled them and most Democrats aren't interested in their opinions, either.

When the Trump assassination attempts happened, Democrats were among the first to call out the political violence. But now, that seems to only run one way. That’s how badly Trump has damaged the soul of the Republican Party. open.substack.com/pub/joycevan...

BREAKING: A federal judge reversed National Institutes of Health's terminations of hundreds of critical research grants that were canceled because of their alleged connection to disfavored topics, including diversity, equity, inclusion, and gender identity. This is a major win for public health.

Political violence must always be condemned.

Has anyone else noticed that the national mood is better today?

If Congress doesn’t fix the GENIUS Act, billionaires like Elon Musk and Jeff Bezos could launch stablecoins that track your purchases, exploit your data, and squeeze out competitors. These billionaires will come begging for a taxpayer bailout when it inevitably blows up.

I wish the USA had respected Jimmy Carter more than they had. He was an amazing man. He was probably the most honest president we have ever had.

Thank you, Madam Speaker.

It most certainly is!

Congress should pass the bipartisan BARK Act, my bill to save millions of pounds of perfectly good pet food from the trash and get it to the growing population of hungry shelter dogs and cats. We can do this. Let’s get it done.

If Rep. Young Kim (R) won’t speak with her constituents, I will. Join me this Thursday in CA-40 for an in-person Town Hall where we’ll talk Trump’s authoritarianism, GOP budget cuts to healthcare and education, and Young Kim’s deafening silence. Sign up here: www.mobilize.us/dpoc/event/8...

Mike Lee was born with every conceivable advantage in life. His father was US Solicitor Gen & dean of BYU Law, where Mike went to school. Older brother UT Sup Ct justice. Then he got jobs where family connections certainly help open doors. But he decided he wanted to be Catturd.

No Kings Day was one of the largest days of protest in US history. From deep red small towns to our largest cities, millions of people turned out to make it clear that the American people will not bow to fascism. #NoKings

Karen Bass: "There is no comparison [with the 1992 riots]. And unfortunately that is what is being pushed, as though the city is in chaos, there's civil unrest everywhere. For most Angelenos, they're like, 'What city are they describing?' They are definitely not describing Los Angeles."

As a veteran, can I say, blame the President for deploying the Marines and federalizing the National Guard. Don't blame the Marines for being deployed or the Guard for being federalized. This isn't a job. You can't just say no or quit. You get court-martialed and sent to Leavenworth.

can’t believe this still needs to be said, but: stop following altNPS. none of them work for the NPS and they exist to do Qanon numbers station crap and sell merch. it’s annoying for a lot of us that are actually NPS. thanks

Happy Father's Day to all of the fathers, stepfathers, uncles, godfathers, grandfathers, and friends who raise us with pride, joy, and endless laughter. And to Dougie, my best friend and a wonderful dad: Thank you for everything you do for our family. We love you.

Is Trump just making up this bit about him stopping Israel from killing the Ayatollah? Israel denies it and just feels off.

Not too shabby. Now we build on it. www.thedailybeast.com/data-guru-g-...

After yesterday’s massive turnout at No Kings rallies, let’s remember to bring that same energy to the midterms. Please and thank you?

Based on crowd-sourced records of No Kings Day event turnout, and extrapolating for the cities where we don't have data yet, it looks like roughly 4-6 million people protested Trump across the U.S. yesterday. That's nearly 2% of the U.S. pop! Mobilized anti-Trump resistance is exceeding 2017 levels

The Tea Party protests in April 2009 had about a third of a million people involved, and the political media treated it like a game changer for the Obama presidency. The No Kings rallies were AT LEAST ten times bigger than the Tea Party protests. Will the press keep pretending Trump is popular?

I lost my dad years ago, too, but I think about him all the time.

Trump's parade could've been an email.

Just to put it in perspective: Trump’s birthday parade drew about 8,600 people. Meanwhile, Connecticut held 30 rallies, and over 10,000 showed up in Hartford alone. Donald Trump got ratioed by Hartford, Connecticut. On his birthday.

From Rabbi @marisaelana.bsky.social: May Iranians, who mostly hate their leaders, be safe. May Palestinians, who mostly hate their leaders, be safe. May Israelis, who mostly hate their leaders, be safe. May all the war-mongering authoritarians be deposed & may they [yet] experience real justice..

the story today is of a profoundly low energy military parade being met with millions of americans in nationwide protests denouncing the dictatorial pretensions of the president

This is genuinely wonderful news.

I'm sorry but the largest protest of my lifetime is not the 7th or 8th biggest news story in the country behind "what does Gen Z want from Instagram?" This shit is humiliating. Rearrange your layout to meet this moment. Omitting the thing happening in every American city is malpractice.

#NoKings protest at the Minnesota State Capitol in St. Paul ❤️

NEW: In the last few hours, Minnesota authorities warned people against attending protests, with a killer on the loose. This is the current view of the Minnesota State Capitol in St. Paul. DEFIANCE. 👏 #NoKings #50501Movement (📸 Daviss)

to be clear: when they write "Democrats" they actually mean Third Way and a guy who was a Deputy Mayor 25 years ago

I am devastated by the loss of Minnesota State Representative Melissa Hortman and her husband, Mark, in a horrifying act of violence. Our prayers are with their children and all who loved them, and with State Senator John Hoffman and his wife, Yvette, who were also targeted.

Thank you, Senator. And for those bellyaching in the comments that his choice of "awful incident" means he doesn't understand the situation, back the fuck off. There are times when Senator Schumer has not reacted with appropriate urgency, but so far, this isn't one of them.
