Sometimes we see buzzards on our morning walk and if we do they are normally flying around. However on a few occasions we’ve seen them closer up, like this encounter. #buzzard #birds #ukwildlife #birdsofprey #britishwildlife

There are some birds that change colours throughout the year. One of them is the black-tailed godwits who have a different colour for the summer and winter months. Over the past few months we’ve watched them gradually change colour #britishbirds #ukwildlife #birds #wildlife

Over the weekend we had one of our best encounters with the Western marsh harrier who was also appreciating the yellow of the New Forest. #marshharrier #birds #ukwildlife #wildlife #wildlifephotography

There is so much yellow around the New Forest at the minute with the gorse blooming, a great spot for this linnet to land on. #linnet #newforest #birds #ukwildlife #wildlife #spring

Been spoilt with kestrel encounters down in Hampshire including this moment, where just metres from us this kestrel was hoovering then found a vole. Although this happened right infront of the sun, we’re happy with how this photo turned out! #kestrel #birds #wildlife #ukwildlife #birdsofprey

The first time we saw the short-eared owl, it spent most of its time flying around. Other than these brief few minutes where it stopped right by us. #shortearedowl #ukwildlife #britishwildlife #birds #owl

10 years ago the robin was voted by the public as the UK’s national bird. With an estimated population of over 7 million of these, it’s not hard to find one here. #robin #britishbirds #ukwildlife #birds #wildlife #wildlifephotography

Earlier this week we took a trip into Dorset looking for the peregrine falcon, and we saw it all around the Christchurch Priory. #peregrinefalcon #birds #ukwildlife #birdsofprey #britishwildlife #wildlifephotography

Over the past few years we have seen cormorants a lot, from the UK to our travels around the world. They’ve definitely been a bit overlooked by us, but we’re glad we got these photos at Poole Harbour. #cormorant #birds #birdphotography #ukwildlife #wildlife

We think this kingfisher got more than they wanted with this catch! #commonkingfisher #kingfisher #birds #ukwildlife #britishwildlife #birdphotography

Spring is also the start of breeding season for a lot of birds in the UK including these pied avocets. #piedavocet #avocet #britishbirds #ukbirds #birdphotography #ukwildlife #birds

Spring is in the air in Hampshire with the flowers blooming and the return of migratory birds like the common chiffchaff. #spring #spring2025 #chiffchaff #birds #ukwildlife

Looks like something is otter-ly hilarious! #otter #wildlife #wildlifephotography

The Eurasian jay is one of the more elusive birds we’ve seen during our time in Hampshire, as we’ve only seen it a handful of times. But luckily we’ve always managed to get photos when we’ve seen it. #eurasianjay #birds #ukwildlife #birdphotography

Now that spring is here, some of the birds that we’ve seen for the past few months have left whilst others are arriving back in the UK. One of the ones that we haven’t seen much of recently is the common redshank. #commonredshank #birds #ukwildlife

On our walks in Sam Roi Yot in Thailand, we were able to see the hoopoe most days. We’ve seen it in a few different countries now. Although we haven’t seen one in the UK yet, the last week they have been seen in nearby Dorset, so we will keep an eye out for one! #hoopoe #birds #wildlife

Throwback to our garden in Thailand where we saw this garden sunbird #gardensunbird #bird #wildlife

We’ve only got about a month left in Hampshire, time has gone so quickly! One of the things we will miss the most is our garden where we’ve had some close and sometimes cheeky encounters with the roe deer. #roedeer #ukwildlife #britishwildlife #deer

During our time in Asia we saw a few different kingfishers along the Kinabatangan River. The stork-billed kingfisher was the one we saw the most. #borneo #kingfisher #birds

Within Kuala Lumpur Botanic Gardens there is a bird park that is home to a variety of birds from around the world. Over the years some of these birds have escaped and now live in the botanic gardens. One of these birds is the superb starling that is normally found in East Africa. #birds #wildlife

Springtime is definitely in the air in Hampshire #spring #bird #ukwildlife

Who else is loving these sunny spring days? We definitely are and so is this blackbird. #blackbird #birds #ukwildlife

Earlier this week we went on an early morning adventure where we ended up finding 15 different brown hares. One of them just walked out on this road right infront of us! #hare #britishwildlife #wildlife

These photos were taken minutes after our last kestrel post. She landed right in front of us, and we had to take a few step backs to get these shots. #kestrel #ukwildlife #birds #birdsofprey

We’ve just got back from an early morning adventure looking for these short-eared owls but no luck. We do however have a few more photos to share from this special afternoon last month #owls #shortearedowl #birds #ukwildlife

We saw pacific swallows on all of our cruises along the Kinabatangan River. These birds don’t stay still for long, so it was nice when they decided to have a rest on this stick right by our boat. #pacificswallow #bird #borneo

It may have taken us a while to see our first bearded reedling, but these photogenic birds were worth the wait. #beardedreedling #birds #uknature #ukwildlife

For the past few months we’ve been a bit spoilt with our encounters of the kingfisher at Keyhaven. Although we haven’t seen it as much recently, we still have a few more photos to share of the kingfisher #kingfisher #ukwildlife #birds

Today’s theme for the #blueskyartshow is #thejourney and we thought we would share this photo of a common kingfisher journey to getting food in the sea in Hampshire #kingfisher #birds #ukwildlife

Back in 2022 we visited Akureyri, where we had one of our best wildlife encounters - seeing a pod of pilot whales just metres from the shore. Then things got better when this grey seal pup also came to say hi.

One morning at Keyhaven we were walking through the car park when we were greeted by this pied wagtail. #birds #ukwildlife #wagtail

Today is world sparrow day. The UK is home to 2 different types of sparrow, the house sparrow and the tree sparrow. Both of these sparrow populations have dramatically decreased. The house sparrows by around 70% in the UK (from 1977 to 2008 source - RSPB) #sparrow #birds #ukwildlife

A couple of weeks ago we had a great encounter with 3 red kites. That afternoon we also saw a kestrel, buzzard and 3 short-eared owls. So safe to say there’s more photos coming from this day! #redkite #ukwildlife #birds #birdsofprey

Looking forward to the adventures we have coming up this year and what wildlife we may see! Stork billed kingfisher in Borneo #kingfisher #birds #borneo

These baby silver-leaf monkeys are orange for the first few months of their life. Their colour helps them blend into their environment, making them less visible to predators, which typically struggle to distinguish shades of orange and green. #monkey #wildlife #borneo

Is this the biggest kingfisher in the world? No, but we love the way this photo looks like it could be! #kingfisher #birds #ukwildlife

For the #blueskyartshow we thought we would share something a little different for #sunlight as the sunlight really makes a difference on this common buzzard #birds #buzzard #ukwildlife
