Very happy to have had three images awarded again in the Underwater Photographer of the Year competition. There’s always lots of incredible photos to check out among the winners: underwaterphotographeroftheyear.com/winners/upy-... #underwaterphotography #marinelife #ukunderwater #wildlifephotography

An orange-clubbed #seaslug on pink hook #seaweed in the rock pools around Falmouth. Plenty of sea slugs about now as spring arrives. #marinelife #cornwallcoast #britishwilldife

Very happy to have won silver place in the over-under category of the DPG masters #underwaterphotography competition - mauve stinger #jellyfish in a tidal pool, with yellow seaweed & gloomy skies All winning photos & videos here www.underwatercompetition.com/Competitions... #marinelife #ukunderwater

Blue-rayed limpets often gather on the kelp over the autumn and winter here. They’re tiny, about 1 cm long each, and nobody knows why they have such incredible blue markings #underwaterphotography #ukunderwater #marinelife #britishwildlife #cornwall

Rainbow wrack #seaweed (also called magic seaweed) is beginning to grow back in the #rockpools as spring approaches. It’s the most incredible blue-green iridescent colour, especially the fresh shoots #ukunderwater #underwaterphotography #marinelife #uknature

A pair of Coleman’s shrimp from #Anilao in the Philippines, sitting on their fire urchin home #marinelife #scubadiving #wildlifephotography #underwaterphotography

Can you believe this tiny cushion star is just 1 cm in size? They are among the smallest and most colourful of all starfish and live in the upper shore #rockpools here in #Cornwall. The red spots on the very end of the arms are eyes! #marinelife #seacreatures #underwaterphotography #britishnature

One of the smallest #seaslugs around, this is the red Doris - it’s about the size of a grain of rice. Great to see the sea slugs reappearing here now spring is coming #marinelife #marinebiology #underwaterphotography

So happy to have found this amazing rainbow #seaslug yesterday. They only started to appear in the UK in 2022 and this is the second time I’ve come across them - the colours are unreal. #underwaterphotography #ukwildlife #marinebiology

Here’s some magic #seaweed (rainbow wrack) to brighten a dull winter day #underwater #uknature #freediving

2024 has flown by and despite the less than ideal weather for much of the year there have been many wonderful encounters and experiences

Scallop eyes - this one was in a #rockpool recently looking back at me. They use their 100-200 eyes to watch for danger, with little mirrors at the back of each eye made from crystals that reflect light back to the retina. #underwaterphoto #underwaterphotographer #marinebiology

Here’s a first post from me with two of my favourite #underwater photos from 2024 from one of the massive mauve stinger #jellyfish influxes we had over the autumn in #cornwall #underwaterphotography #wildlifephotography #marinebiology
