Some sewing actually happened 🎉 some candy colored February bee blocks, just under the wire.

pouring one out today for my local Joann’s, which is ten minutes away from my house and is on the list of proposed store closures 💔

Fellow NSA - National Security Agency veterans. Look at what’s happened at the National Cryptologic Museum. They covered up with brown paper the photos of Women in American Cryptology. All in response to President Trump’s anti-diversity executive order.

Work has been crazy so, not a lot of time for sewing lately, but here is some recent scrap bin lone star patchwork ✨

Here, have some beauty #beautiful

Had the energy for some after work/bedtime/kitchen cleaning patchwork, which hasn’t happened a lot this month! I am embarrassingly imprecise when I sew these scrappy lone stars (no pins, only ripping out the most egregious mistakes) they feel so freeing and happy to make ✨ #quiltsky

My quilt about women’s reproductive rights has been banned from all American Quilters Society shows this year. It’s been part of a traveling show with SAQA. My artist statement is too long for here. It’s on my website: laurashaw.net/quilts#/your-mother #quiltsky

And she’s done!

Making a pineapple block for the first time since my scrap bin is overflowing and I am between projects. No plans for this one but, it is nicely satisfying and part of my new years goals were to try sewing blocks I’ve never made before ✨

Charlie, listening to the rain on the roof of our car: “it sounds like instruments.” (And earlier: “rain is a bad guy to fire, but a good guy to us” 🥹🥹🥹)

Quilt by Setsuko Matsushima

My contribution to a local community quilt for LA wildfire mutual aid, plus my more rambly thoughts that wouldn’t fit in the character limit here ❤️ #quiltsky

This was as far as I managed to get today (still undecided on the yellow and also the darkest blue - I feel like maybe those belong in a different block but also maybe I’m just overthinking things) #quiltsky

Six tiny stars down (or five - I’m not totally sure about that yellow one) and some squid games (finally!) for company 🎉

Tonight’s after work/bedtime sewing: a block for a community quilt to benefit LA wildfire relief. The organizer posted a color scheme but left the design up to us, so I am making tiny stars ✨ #quiltsky

Yep, it’s all fabric. “The Oaks” Approx 20” x 20” quilt mounted on plywood.

Since I’ve been sharing my current WIP a lot here, I thought I’d share one I completed last year. Behold Queen of Swords, a portrait of Egyptian-American feminist author, Mona Eltahawy. This will be on display at Quilt National 2025 at the Dairy Barn Arts Center. 54.5” x 41” All fabric, no paint 🚫🎨

All the blocks of the month together! Part of me really wants to see these all together in some way so I can be down now, another wants to find another block of the month (possibly next year?) and just keep going and make a giant sampler quilt. #quiltsky

my work computer is taking foreverrr to render some stuff so I am making tiny quarter moons while I wait #quiltsky

The twelfth and final #learningcurvesbom block and a grid of an entire year and change’s worth of blocks! Now what to do with them?

What I am doing today instead of watching the inauguration:

Finally had time to catch up on this/ the November block in the #learningcurvesbon! #quiltsky

Am so annoyed by meta/instagram switching to rectangles (and also that whole oh, we don’t moderate hate speech anymore; and literally everything else ever)
