April 15 is the attributed birthday of Leonardo da Vinci (1452-1519). Happy Birthday to The Renaissance Man. Take 2 minutes and celebrate with this original song from Filmateria's original YouTube kids' show "Team Marco Polo." It's a banger. www.youtube.com/watch?v=afls...

He has learned that if you battle everything sometimes you win just by wearing the process down. It’s like a kid who whines and finally ends up with the iPad because the parents can’t take it anymore.

It’s like when Paul McCartney showed up at the Billy Joel concert that closed Shea Stadium!

Your move, @stanford.edu

Imagine being Usha.

I never read an article about finances or the economy from a reporter whose first name is “Trip.“

Wonder why Netflix's stock price has doubled in a few years? This is why:

He looks like very old warmed over death to me.

He didn’t back down Schumer. He doubled down on China, Mexico, and Canada. Time to mosey off the stage grandpa.

Schumer’s time has passed.

Cheryl needs to leave him because he doesn’t respect wood.

Schumer is an out of touch idiot.

I have lived through the crash of 1987, 2000, 2008, and 2020 as well as the down year of 2022 and this one feels different. In all the other situations, there was an incentive by the government to get things back to normal as quickly as possible. This government wants to leave normal behind.

Lately, people have been putting videos on social media of Republicans Ronald Reagan and his guru Milton Freeman talking about power of markets and the danger. Now, a generation later, the Bible-thumping megalomaniac wing of the party has taken over.

If we have a chance to look back on this era, we will look back on it as the most profound failure of democratic government not only our history in the history of any democratic nation. This man who controls our economy also controls our nuclear arsenal. It is dangerous and irresponsible.

Does she remind anybody else of that Theranos chick?

Turns out Chatterton did not chat a ton.

Prescient?

Life goes on. The bird still chirp. The eagles still fly. The flowers still bloom. So you have to find solace where you can. It bothers me that it takes a malignant narcissist like Donald Trump to get me to read Ecclesiastes. The chapter is threadbare every time he takes office.

I wish Democrats could thrive on anger the way Republicans do. It's politcally powerful. But we are rational so we just turn to figuring out how to survive under the new bizarro reality.

Damn. That third rail was hot!

Cool circus. But not enough bread.

My wife said it best today: “Trumphausen Syndrome by proxy.”

Dear children of rich parents: you’ll have fewer choices, but declaring your major will be even easier at the University of Chicago! artshumanities.uchicago.edu

There are no words to explain the chaos Trump has fomented. On TV, his lieutenants preach that short-term pain will lead to amazing gains. But this is a pattern with these guys. They destroy a system and when they partially give something back, they take credit for saving it.

I am so resentful how Trump and the voters who elected him have forced us to focus on something that should simply be in the background. The opportunity cost of his malignant narcissism is so dangerous and unnecessary for a vibrant, optimistic nation like America.

If the stock market doesn't turn around soon, gaining 10% or more in the next few weeks, there are going to be stories of financial hardship and bankruptcies. 401Ks are not just ethereal concepts. They're necessary for a huge swath of people to live.

You think about a market crash in theory but having now lived through 3 or 4 of them, I have learned that things always come back. The question is just how long is the duration of the crash. And, of course, individual companies have different reasons for not coming back as much or as fast.

When stocks are down, I break out the Boethius.

Very interesting and very ominous.

Even John Barron sides with Musk on this one.

Tossing the 30 pound Uline catalog directly into the recycle bin from the mailbox is how I get my upper body workout every week.

I wish there were a Democrat who could speak comfortably about finances. Seems like an open net right now, but I honestly can’t think of a single one.

The only problem with the inevitable break between Musk and Republicans is that he will definitely form a third party.

Is it just me or is it time for Congress to change its font?

@joshtpm.bsky.social A question: Why didn’t Trump‘s tariff news leak? And for the “3-D chess” people, is it possible that the Jonah Goldberg Signal debacle was a bait and switch to cause potential leakers to fear the consequences in advance? How can an economy crash with no advance warning?

Now we’re showing things we got in our Christmas stocking.

Bobo in Inferno.

I saw it coming under Nixon and I was five years old.

I’d start with the mustache if I were him.

The truth is nobody, not even the experts, have any idea how to deal with the stock market volatility. Because we have never had a president who purposely caused a stock market trash before.

It was the best of times, it was the worst of lorem ipsum.

When Trump came down the escalator and 2015 it was the first time I had ever recall a person with authority, other than Pat Buchanan back in the day, say that immigrants were a problem. I had only heard positive public comments about them before.

A reminder, this very unintelligent and inarticulate man will receive at least two pensions from public institutions.
