I stand by my argument that we absolute do not NEED a Marine Corps. There is nothing the Marine Corps does that is unique or that the other arms (predominantly the Army) can't do (and usually ARE doing.) The Marine Corps is a PR agency with artillery.

This conflict is costing Israel. Despite all the talking heads on this, we are unlikely to see regime change in Iran. I worry more about Jordan. The kingdom's interception of Iranian missiles cannot be going down well there.

The people who had the biggest impact on the development of my academic career were Brian Bond, Hugh Cecil, Richard Holmes, John Pimlott, Peter Simkins and Edward M. Spiers. Only the last two are still with us. I am grateful to all of them.
