I grew up in CT and lived in LA for 12 years. I had to move back because my extreme season depression. Couldn’t handle 12 months of sun, totally needed the cold and snow come November and December. I know it’s the opposite of normal but that shit is real.

I’m having a weird internal debate where I think if you are just dealing with concert footage, it becomes more about personal likes and not about filming. But then isn’t that what all critique comes down too. If one doesn’t like gangster movies they might struggle to see the genius of The Godfather.

I love your work, but I still don’t see it. Demme doesn’t do anything much different from any typical concert film. I see films like Chapelle’s block party and Summer of Soul, to work off your list, as more groundbreaking because they were doing more than just film a concert.
