My favourite part of the Oscars is when a bit of time goes by on the bad calls, then basking in how bad it seems. Just got reminded the Villeneuve got a best director nomination for Arrival but lost to La La Land.

A pretty good set of Oscar nominees. I don't think they reflect anywhere near the best films of last year, but they reflect a broad swath of movies I would call "good" in some capacity and then also Emilia Perez, which I didn't like at all but which is at least a tonal mess, which I can get behind.
