This week's "New Tunes at 2" lineup: Monday: Lilly Hiatt – Forever: her 6th. Tuesday: Gary Louris – Dark Country: 3rd solo album from the Jayhawks frontman. Wednesday: Denison Witmer – Anything At All: produced by Sufjan Stevens. Thursday: Them Coulee Boys – No Fun in the Chrysalis

Live in Studio B, today at 3pm: Early James Once you hear Early James’ raw, eerily otherworldly voice, you don’t forget it. We were taken by his debut album, “Strange Time to Be Alive” and he wowed us with a powerful Air Studio appearance in 2022. Now we’re getting to know his new one, “Medium Raw”.

New Tunes at 2 today: Cymande – Renascence This 9-piece London band blended funk, jazz, reggae and soul back in the early ‘70, and were on track to have quite a long run of success. They toured the U.S. with Al Green, & Ramsey Lewis, and were the 1st British band to play the Apollo in NYC. (1)

New Tunes at 2, Thursday: Miss Tess – Cher Reve We’ve enjoyed having her visit us for numerous live sessions over the years. She cohesively weaves genres we love together into one authentic Americana sound: blues, R&B, early rock, and in this album’s case thanks largely to Joel Savoy, Cajun. (1/2)

Wednesday’s New Tunes at 2: Marc Broussard – Time is a Thief The soulful Louisiana singer is back with this one via his own Artist Tone Label. Guitarist Eric Krasno contributes production work as well as a variety of instrumental parts. (1/2)

Tuesday’s “New Tunes at 2”: Chuck Prophet – Wake the Dead San Francisco’s Chuck Prophet explores the world of Cumbia music, with sambas, bossa novas, and boleros blending twangy guitars, accordions, and a generally top-notch production style he’s become known for over the years.

Monday’s New Tunes at 2: R. Shayne Floyd – Heights of the Land Formerly with the Charleston bluegrass band River Boy, Floyd has stepped out with this solo Americana album of mostly originals (there’s one Paul Westerberg cover!) recorded in Nashville. (1/2)

Premiering tonight! Each Tuesday at 12 am, Julian Booker takes a trip back in time to one year of the past 70+ years of music. Selections include worldwide hits and deep cuts from rock, soul, indie, jazz, and everything in between -- a throwback to the eclectic, golden days of album-oriented radio.

Garth Hudson, the last surviving member of The Band, has died at age 87. Join us in paying tribute to his great contributions. www.billboard.com/music/rock/g...

Thank you @lucyboop-srv.bsky.social for being (we think) our 100th follower here! Keep spreading the word about WNCW here and elsewhere. That’s what makes us “Grassroots Public Radio”!

Songs inspired by #MLK throughout Monday on www.WNCW.org. Follow us on this new BlueSky page!

Of course this is what we think of whenever “blue sky” is mentioned: Dickey Betts’ first song as lead vocalist, and one of Duane Allman’s final recordings. RIP Betts, who died last year. Long live The Allman Brothers Band! youtu.be/UToUzWgHGyQ?...
