Within Way late morning. Redshank, oystercatcher, curlew, shelduck, teal, Canada geese, heron, little egret etc. all moving around as the big high tide partially flooded Hale Marsh. Buzzard & raven pairs, crows & jackdaws, mixed finch flock, song thrush, nuthatch etc. also noted. #UKbirding

Great to see three hares in the late afternoon at Ditton Brook. Yellowhammers singing and calling, lots of noisy grey partridge at dusk, grey wag, redwing flock & mipits the other highlights. #UKbirding First two photos by @birderjack.bsky.social

Wondering if anyone is interested in buying this signed paperback copy of The Seabird’s Cry, by Adam Nicolson (2017) Condition: Very Good A celebration of seabirds and their lives, both amongst and apart from our own, and a warning of the dangers they face in the Anthropocene #WildlifeBook #BirdBook

A captivating carpet of croci at Sudley House today - with and without sunshine 💜🤍

Enjoyed a restorative few hours on the #allotment surrounded by sunshine, bird song, buzzing bees and blooming bulbs 💜

Don't know how I forgot to mention the 'hweeting' chiffchaff in a post about spring, but here we are 🙄 #UKbirding

A mild morning of sunshine & showers at Ditton Brook. Spring was in the air with lesser celandine starting to bloom, shelduck courting, yellowhammers singing & skylarks displaying. Also: grey partridge, lapwing, kestrel, pinkies, reed bunting, redwing, etc. Plus water rail at Carr Lane. #UKbirding

Back at the farm @kindlingtrust.bsky.social for nest-box making - and what a wonderful variety were produced. From barn owls to kestrels to wrens, there's a des res to suit 🤎 (Being chronically unpractical, I was on other duties, so I can't claim any credit for making any 😁)

Spectacular #sunrise over #Liverpool Marina today 💜🧡

NHBS have a book sale on, including Moult and Ageing of European Passerines (£66.50 from £95.00): www.nhbs.com/backlist-bar... #WildlifeBooks

Lovely to see croci and snowdrops in the ☀️ at Sefton Park on a 'Meetup' walk earlier. Notable birds: RNPs, nuthatch, song thrush, great tits scoping out a nesting hole, little grebes, tufties and either a very cross, invisible buzzard or a hidden, ventriloquist jay 🤷🏻‍♀️ #UKbirding

A good time to switch to a plant-based diet. 👍🌱 #lowcarbonbirding

A blizzard of finches in a biting wind down Within Way this morning. One twite amongst the linnet flock; brambling, goldfinch, chaffinch, reed bunting, dunnock, robin, blackbird also benefiting from the supplementary seed. Curlew, Canada geese, lapwing, skylark in the fields. #UKbirding

A change of scenery this morning (still grey, though!) with a quick visit to Heswall. A few pinkies and large, swirling & distant wader flocks the highlights at the shore, and a bonus pair of ravens over the shops. #UKbirding

We are looking for architects to work with us to design the transformation of our beautiful Victorian farm into a thriving hub and facilities for our communities. For more information please visit: kindling.org.uk/news/kindlin... Deadline for tenders: 14th March at 5pm.

Spent a great day volunteering at Kindling Farm @kindlingtrust.bsky.social yesterday as they prepared for their first growing season. I'm more of an organiser than a 'doer', but even I got out into the fields and helped wrangle the crop mesh 😁 Volunteering opps: kindling.org.uk/Calendar?fie...

A disappointing morning dipping the shore lark again, especially when the person next to me had it in their scope for a second 😭 Still, nice to be out... 🙄 #UKbirding

Quick walk down Within Way in the cold: no finch flock in usual hedgerow - thought it was because it had been flailed until I saw the little male sparrowhawk hiding underneath it! Other highlights: one twite (ta to Dave for the heads up), only 3 brambling, 40+ curlew, vocal raven pair. #UKbirding

Hello solarpunk friends! In case you missed my recent talk about solarpunk nomadism with the Climate Emergency Centre, they’ve just uploaded it to YouTube! Enjoy m.youtube.com/watch?v=eIyb...

The war of attrition with the #allotment woodpigeon reached new heights this morning as I was forced to sit right next to the bird food, as waving and standing up (and swearing) were no longer working 🙄 At least I didn't put off any of the other birds! #UKbirding

Nipped to Festival Gardens after the #allotment this morning. Highlights: blue, coal, great & LTTs on the plot; and a flock of siskin, goldfinch & greenfinch, and a buzzard trying to outmanoeuvre two crows over the Southern Grasslands. #UKbirding
