On the one hand, I absolutely agree that AI poses a real danger to critical thinking and that screens are sapping interpersonal skills. On the other, I'm fascinated by how similar these apocalyptic warnings are to much older complaints about writing, printing and reading.

This offers us a helpful deadline as well, removing ourselves collectively from X. From the 21st of February, we'll be only here, but just as enthusiastic about #EarlyModern things ever, if not more. #SkyStorians

I had already decided not to fly to two major US-based conference, mainly because of the climate crisis. But with this stripping out of the FAA, I can add that I will not fly to the States if I can't be confident there are skilled people employed to ensure aviation is as safe as it can be.
