Game last Thursday Shako II rules Battle of Mohrungen 1807, a Michael Hopper scenario. The French moved forward boldly and our Russian line failed to stop them. The division to my right failed morale then after repulsing them for 8 turns I failed my divisional morale roll, game over.

Ian Fleming's original James Bond novels haven't aged well. For example, Moonraker - published almost exactly 70 years ago in April 1955 - features a villain who's a super-rich industrialist and rocket-maker seeking to cause chaos because he's a secret Nazi. Such a silly idea!

20th Feb 1944. 1,000 bombers and 660 fighters of the USAAF mounted the first raids of ‘Big Week’ against German airfields and aviation industry. By 25th Feb, 200 bombers were lost and over 2,000 aircrew had been killed or taken prisoner. The Luftwaffe lost 1/3 of its fighters and 100 pilots. 🧵1/3
