Polite take: A lot of the objection to actually useful AI (self driving cars, delivery bots, household bots) of the form, "just take public trans" or "just do it yourself" often really underrates: A) Requirements of special needs people B) Needs of the elderly C) Needs of under-served groups

The major strategy behind Trump’s use of “antisemitism” as the lever for dictatorship is to make everyone whose rights and happiness are being snuffed out to blame Jews.

No meat inspection No milk inspection No keeping track of child/domestic abuse No keeping track of women dying in childbirth No funding of head start No childhood cancer research No vaccines No affordable housing Minimum wage 7.25 LETS HAVE A BABY!

You can eat all organic food, drink green juice every day, do yoga, get vitamin D and touch grass… and still become disabled. Wellness culture can’t save you from disability. What’s worse, most wellness “gurus” will blame you when you become ill. Wellness culture is toxic & eugenics adjacent.

Maddow: 88% of the country says no, no, he cannot defy a supreme court ruling. Only 9% say yes he can. And you know, it's not the same thing. But I should mention that 9% is also the proportion of Americans who told yougov this week that they have a favorable view of the black plague

RFK Jr blames diet, lifestyle & vaccines for chronic illness. Dr Oz says it’s a “patriotic duty” to lead a healthy life & be fit enough to serve in the military. Neither of them are pushing for Universal Healthcare, basic income, an end to food deserts & inequality, clean water etc. It’s eugenics

Standing with the Armenian community in Glendale to commemorate the 110th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide. We must stand up to Azerbajian's continued aggression and insist on the release of Armenian POWs. And we must demand justice.

man it sucks to log on and learn about what rights & safety ive lost every hour

Your disabled characters can just be disabled. There's no need to create a plot or a world-specific reason for a disabled character. That's an option, sure. But consider writing folks who just happen to be disabled. It diversifies your world and adds representation that we deserve.

Today on Yom HaShoah and Armenian Genocide Remembrance Day, it’s important to remember that genocide isn’t an abstract concept. It’s something that happens before our eyes. To honor those murdered in past genocides, we can’t just remember. We must also take action and protect our most vulnerable.

On this Armenian Genocide Remembrance Day, we must acknowledge the horrors of this atrocity and its lasting impact on Armenia and its diaspora. As co-lead for the Armenian Genocide Education Act, it’s imperative we educate future generations on this pure manifestation of evil.

ASAN is gravely concerned by Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s reported plans to establish a “registry” of autistic people & to hand over sensitive medical data about autistic people to unnamed researchers, likely without their consent. autisticadvocacy.org/2025/04/asan...

Why, no, you shouldn't have to have your 'papers' on yourself at all times or face extraordinary rendition to a foreign country, actually

This right here is why I am glad I declined to be in the All of Us NIH study every time it was pitched to me. They have genetic and other biologic samples, lifestyle and history questionnaires...I'd put money on him pirating this data and making several disability databases.

Disabled people who can work are worthy. Disabled people who cannot work are worthy. Disabled people who are completely independent are worthy. Disabled people who rely on others for assistance are worthy. ALL disabled people are worthy.

they want you sick and preferably dead www.reuters.com/business/hea...

Long long ago, we actually had Presidents who were intelligent, articulate, and compassionate. So alike the current occupant of the White House.

Breast cancer diagnoses rose by over 300% between 1973 and 1992. Was there a breast cancer epidemic?! NO. Mammograms were implemented for screening in 1976. PREVALENCE is a function of being able to correctly diagnose something. This is also about autism.

As a person who has studied history, an autism registry is a five alarm fire.

"Kennedy’s disgust with and devaluation of autistic people fits neatly into a eugenic logic that views health as virtue, and sees illness, or difference, as a kind of moral lapse which should be subject to punishment or censure."

Disabled people have the right to exist even if we can’t work. To believe we don’t have that right is eugenics and ableism.

Marjorie Taylor Greene seemingly celebrating the death of Pope Francis is a new low even for her. This woman is vile.

When you become chronically ill, a disappointing number of people will suggest it’s all in your head. That you can “try harder” and be better. They do this because they can’t face the reality that health is temporary. You can be disabled in an instant, and there’s often no fix.

If I see another article about birth rates that refuses to grapple with the way having children systematically disadvantages women I swear to god. There is no mystery. Stop pretending there is. We’ve got to do away with credulity for nonsense.

Look I'm not Pope Pilled, but Francis pushed the envelope on Gaza & Gays to a point where I could actually talk to my grandparents about both with a MUCH bigger degree of acceptance & understanding than I think I would without him.

As a non-practicing Catholic who respects how deeply faith shapes people’s lives, I appreciated Pope Francis’ efforts to open space for dialogue and work toward global inclusion. The Church is complicated, but he made meaningful strides. May he rest in peace. www.nytimes.com/live/2025/04...

Every citizen in the USA should be obliged to read or watch The Handmaid's Tale. Now. Oh. Damn it. It's already banned in parts of the USA. When a book becomes alive. Too quick. It seems it's already too late for a rising. But I do hope I am wrong. #TheHandMaidsTale #USA #Facism

Q: How much of our drug supply is controlled by China? 🤔 A: We’re so dependent on China that if they shut the door on sending medicines to us our hospitals would shutdown within a couple of months. #TrumpIsFuckingAround #WeAreAboutToFindout

Pope Francis was a force for good. He will be remembered for his empathy for the most vulnerable among us, his advocacy for action on climate change, and his leadership to make the Church a welcoming place for all — which made so many people feel seen.

Gotta say, I struggle on some days to reconcile the fact that millions of Americans actually WANT to live in a country with viruses spreading freely, thousand of people getting kicked out of their jobs, billionaires feasting on the government & people being snatched off the street by secret police.

In 2022, people being so desperate to get out of “lockdown” or “mask requirements” without thinking what disabled / immunocompromised people think about those things is ableist, discriminatory & selfish You knew that these were tools to protect immunocompromised people but you ignored that: 🧵 1/2

If you hate the Pope because he is too “liberal”, I have some very bad news for you about Jesus.

Took 5 minutes to vote in the advance poll this morning in Vancouver. Make sure to get out & vote! This election is important. Advance Polls open from 9am to 9 pm Saturday, April 19 Sunday, April 20 Monday, April 21 Make your vote count!

All of this. "But you don't look sick." Yes, that's because 98% of "sick" can't be seen. And because I've made active efforts to hide the 2% of visible symptoms to go into public without issues. And because you're not seeing me all day long when the glitter wears off.

What you see: Disabled person out and about. What you don’t see: What it took for them to get out, what it’ll do to them later, the amount of pain they’re in but hiding right now, the sacrifices they’re making to be out, the harm it’s caused them.

Rip Chief Pontiac, Odawa leader, died this day 1769. "They came with a Bible and their religion, stole our land, and crushed our spirit, and now tell us we should be thankful to the Lord for being saved."

The next time one feels compelled to make ageist statements about all seniors supporting the fascists and deserving whatever they get...take a look around. Many have been in this fight before.
