Many people are strongly saying that a government which can make an assertion that someone is a gang member, and send them to an extra-judicial, extra-territorial prison, without giving the accused an opportunity to dispute the allegations, has H. R. M. George III vibes. USA king free since 1776!

Van Hollen on Fox News Sunday: "I'm not vouching for the man. I'm vouching for the man's rights. His constitutional rights to due process."

President Bukele allowed Kristi Noem and a Republican Congressman to visit the CECOT facility. He denied access to Senator Chris Van Hollen. If you couldn't tell this was a game, it's clear as day.

💯 this!!!

Van Hollen: I should also just say, I mentioned the fake margarita, they actually wanted to have the meeting by the side of the pool in the hotel. They want to create this appearance that life was just lovely for Kilmar. Which of course is a big, fat lie.

Diary of Anne Frank, 1943

Van Hollen: "This case is not only about one man, as important as that is. It is about protecting fundamental freedoms and the fundamental principle in the Constitution for due process that protects everyone who resides in America."

Due process and freedom of speech are very similar principles in the sense that when they’re properly honored they often benefit people you don’t like. But I guess most people feel more protective of free speech since they themselves often speak, but never go through the legal system.

Not sure who needs to hear this, but any govt official who violates someone's constitutional rights -- and is acting outside the scope of their lawful authority -- can be PERSONALLY liable in a civil suit. ICE officers. Cabinet members. White House staffers. Even the president.

What RFK Jr. said was reprehensible. He should be ashamed of himself and step down.

Lather, rinse, repeat.

A presidential effort to revoke Harvard University's tax-exempt status could run up against a number of challenges, including violating federal law.

I went to El Salvador hoping to meet with Kilmar and check on his well-being, and I had the chance to do that last night. Our courts have been clear: this was an ILLEGAL abduction. I’m speaking now about my meeting with Kilmar and our work to bring him home:

The Dallas ICE office is involved in a mass removal effort targeting nearly 200 people — many without removal orders — scheduled to be deported to El Salvador today. This is not just cruel – it is lawless. I refuse to stay quiet while families are being torn apart, and lives are being put at risk.

This is an obvious point, but cannot overstated. There is an enormous difference between deporting someone - where they get off a plane as a free citizen in their home country AND FUNNELING THEM INTO A BRUTAL PRISON FROM WHICH THEY HAVE NO CHANCE OF EVER EMERGING!!!

Unemployment up. Stock market down. Mortgage rates up. Consumer confidence at worst levels since the Great Depression. Are we great again yet?

JUST IN: Deputy Assistant to the President and "Counterterrorism Czar" Sebastian Gorka says anyone advocating for due process for Kilmar Abrego Garcia could be viewed as "aiding and abetting a terrorist" and be federally charged. (h/t Philip Germain)

The only reason we ever became concerned with a “trade deficit” was in the 80s when Japanese car companies were eating American companies lunch. That’s it. It’s not meant to be an economic strategy. I have a trade deficit with Applebees but we’re fine

Crockett: This is coming from someone who clearly reads on a first grade level. So I don't know why she's trying to clown Sarah, who obviously is a constituent of hers

Leadership means doing the difficult things when times are hard. If she can't or won't use her voice then she should step aside. It's OK to admit you're not up to the job. It's not OK to simply fail to do the job.

You saw the video of the ICE agent breaking a car window near the border, right? He wasn’t an ICE agent. He’s the founder of Veterans on Patrol, a FAR-RIGHT MILITIA patrolling the border for migrants. They’re basically deputizing militias to act as federal agents. This is dangerously out of control

NEW: The Fourth Circuit REJECTS the Trump admin's appeal of Judge Xinis's orders to "facilitate" Kilmar Abrego Garcia's release: "We shall not micromanage the efforts of a fine district judge attempting to implement the Supreme Court's recent decision." storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.us...

Using your voice is a fundamental part of being a United States Senator. It's OK if you either can't or don't want to do the job, but either way if what you said was true, you need to step aside and let someone else take up the mantle of leadership.

Trump is cozying up to a foreign dictator who jailed 50,000+ under martial law in El Salvador — no charges needed. Now Trump wants that same power in the U.S. Democrats are banned from visiting the CECOT mega-prison. Republicans? Welcomed in.

Many products sold in the U.S. are made in El Salvador. In response to the El Salvador president’s statements today, we’re calling for an immediate boycott of all Salvadoran-made goods. Please help by listing any products or brands made in El Salvador in the comments below.

Surely, it won't be lost on the courts that if Donald Trump has the influence over El Salvador President Nayib Bukele to persuade Bukele to get on a plane to come to the United States, he has the influence over Bukele to get him to put a kidnapped prisoner on a plane to come to the United States.

I wonder how the Supreme Court feels about granting Donald Trump immunity for official acts now that one of those official acts is telling the Supreme Court to shove their ruling and fuck the fuck off.
