#EduSky If we ever get through this crisis caused by authoritarian fascism, we could use clean-up time for children to expect to take initiative to care for themselves, the other, and the community and not simply obey. We can print and post examples of what we say to students about clean-up.

All this warning about the end of law and the Democrats don’t appear to have a plan. All this warning about the end of law and the military does not appear to have a plan. All those fine Obama words and Defense of Democracy don’t even hint of a plan. Disease and climate change will continue.

#TodayinHistory in 1872, priests Mariano Gomes, José Burgos, & Jacinto Zamora—collectively known as #Gomburza— were executed by the Spanish colonial admin in the Philippines. Their deaths ignited a national awakening, leading to revolution & independence. www.facebook.com/share/p/12EH... #Edusky

The brain innately organizes and adapts. The brain builds knowledge, skills, and dispositions upon current dendrite connections established in experiences in varied environments. As obvious as it sounds, people are who they have been. Each person is unique in the world. Staff mtg intro? #EduSky

It is possible to compose instruction around what learners naturally do when at their best—energetically inquire, investigate and represent in a united effort to understand, apply, and practice as they learn. Why has education been starved of investment? Climate heat & death result. # EduSky

Pedagogy studies the relationship between the interests of a learning group and the provisions for learning. The advancement group learning (the view from the inside) couples to opportunities and activities (the view from the outside) — for the design of optimal learning conditions. True? #EduSky

How many struggling students don’t have the bottom two blocks in place yet? Maslow before Bloom! #edusky

#EduSky Something profound is amiss in descriptions of teaching. On the one hand we have learning that we see in ourselves and slow changes we see in others. On the other hand, when we try to project how to teach, it’s unclear what to do or say. The manner of teaching is missing. Buy something.

To all tech and AI people: I understand there were unspecified concerns about TikTok. Isn’t true that China is supreme and we get stupid?

Authoritarianism is not democratic. It does not listen or learn. It imposes. The planet will continue to heat when its controlled by authoritarians. # fascism #authoritarianism

Fantastic post. If you haven’t read @juliusgoat.bsky.social before, this is a great place to start.

Student engagement increases when we provide voice and choice, options for what to read, what to write about, what to study. This means giving up some authority in our classrooms and schools. What are you willing to let go of to empower your students?

#EduSky #assessment This group has many folks who teach about ed assessment. I want to share this: Four Big Questions 1. Who cares about the results? 2. What can we see? 3. What does that information mean? 4. What can we do about it? Need all four addressed in any plan. People know this.

#EduSky A teacher I know wrote this to parents: “I like best to work in a setting that allows children to act on their environment. My favorite times are when children come up with an idea and the materials and the environment lend themselves to following through on that idea.” Wondering thoughts

Creative syllabi formats can look great - just be sure to make them accessible for all students (use alt tags on images, use headings, etc.) #EduSky #AcademicSky

#EduSky Broad expertise here. A question about tutorial questions—those where the asker knows the answer: A subcategory could be questions that have verifiable perceptual data or short-term memory data where answers don’t require inferences—‘verifiable questions’. Anybody looked into this?

#EduSky I have always thought this was fascinating. It raises questions in my mind about dispositions to engage in many academic areas, e.g., reading and math, most especially. If some PhD student needed a project…. tomdrummond.com/levels-of-ab...
