Working on a publication where we are developing another identification tool for heliothine pests. The hope is to develop another tool we can use to rapidly identify H. armigera. We have only begun to explore how tabletop electron microscopy could be used certain settings #entomology #science🧪

A consequence I didn’t expect from many federal workers in #entomology losing their jobs was the sudden loss of data, new species images and keys. Normally, they have time to gather taxonomic keys or images for publication, but since they were terminated abruptly, that material is now locked.

This fairy wasp was a bit too small to capture a tack-sharp focus-stacked image. It turned out fairly well, considering its size and the fact it was suspended in alcohol at the time. The inimitable John Huber IDed it as Mymar, probably taprobanicum Ward, from the image. #WaspWednesday #Archives
