Two amazing author talks this week! Elementary students get to hear from Joanna Ho and middle schoolers will hear from William Kamkwamba! We can't wait!

We had such a great time talking with Duncan Tonatiuh today, in both English and Spanish! He read from his book, showed us how to draw a dog, helped us pronounce the Nahuatl words in his book, and we even saw real pictures of the volcanoes! What was your favorite part?

Picture book of the day - A VACCINE IS LIKE A MEMORY, by @rajanilarocca.bsky.social (who's an MD as well as a children's author!), illustrated by Kathleen Marcotte. Explaining the science behind vaccines is essential to combat fear & misinformation. bookshop.org/p/books/a-va...

We had such a great time talking with @erinentrada.bsky.social today! We played "Guess the Characters" and saw her notebook with notes on all of the characters in Hello, Universe. Have you read both of her Newbery Medal winners? They are amazing and so is she!

It's another great week at BookBreak! Lesa Cline-Ransome & James Ransome will be talking with our Elementary Schools and Marie Lu will be talking to Middle Schools. Which one will you be joining?

Happy 9th birthday to Daisy!! Still feisty enough for snow zoomies!

I am really looking forward to this!!

Happy January! We are so excited to be speaking with four amazing authors this month! Mélanie Watt for kindergarten and first grade Mac Barnett for second and third grade Cece Bell for fourth, fifth, and sixth grade Jason Reynolds for seventh and eighth grade Will we see you there?

Happy New Year! Wishing you health, happiness, and prosperity in 2025, with days full of laughter and love.

Happy Hanukkah to all who are celebrating! Sending love and light from our family to yours. And may all the hostages be released.

Introducing Jazzy!! She joined our family a week ago. Jazzy is a two year old chocolate lab, super sweet, very smart, and absolutely starved for attention. She is very small for a lab, about half the size of Daisy. She is settling in well, starting to play with Daisy, and obsessed with Parker.

They were amazing!! One of the best this year!

Went to review this on GoodReads. All reviews and ratings are shut down. Why? Shannon Messenger included some gay characters. A man in a park mentions a husband and a waitress mentions a wife. There are plenty of readers of this series who have two moms or two dads or have classmates who do.

There are 3 new Would You Read It? videos up on our middle school sites, bringing the total to 15! We love these books by @jamesponti.bsky.social, @tavaresbooks.bsky.social, and @katemessner.bsky.social. How many of the WYRIs have you watched?

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ This was an amazing middle grade book about love, loss, and dealing with everyone around you changing. Highly recommended!

Read this in two days. Could not put it down. Absolutely loved the interconnection of the stories. I could have read a full book about each one!! Highly recommended!!

From our family to yours, Happy Thanksgiving to all who are celebrating. I am especially grateful today to be in a warm house filled with delicious food while the snow piles up. Thanks to Steve for stockpiling the wood! (Turkey and pumpkin handmade by Eve)

Current read! I was lucky to get a signed copy at NCTE this morning.

I still need to draw a chicken…

This was so fun!

Looking forward to both of these!

So excited to read this!

@yapha.bsky.social shares 32 middle grade books she can't wait to read in 2024. Which are on your to-read list? imaginationsoup.net/middle-grade... 📚👍

My favorite children's & YA books that I read each month of 2023. It was super hard to keep narrowing them down! So many great books this year! Ultimately, I had to go with the book that filled a longing I'd had since childhood. (Click on the picture if you can't see all 12 months)

I have been waiting for this story for 45 years. Growing up in Minnesota as a huge fan of the Little House books (and yes, I acknowledge how problematic they are), I was desperate to see myself there. This was everything I hoped for and more! Highly recommended for grades 4 & up.

Is it even Hanukkah if I don’t read Hershel & the Hanukkah Goblins? Best Hanukkah story ever!!
