Opinions: Finding the courage to flee U.S. to save my trans daughter www.washingtonblade.... #transgender #trans #LGBTQ #LGBTQIA

This could be us, but you said it's "woke"... #annecarson #poetry #literature

Sorry/not sorry if I'll mention Bukowski too often in my rants, even I can admit not everything he wrote is that bad, but quite a few poets in my country based their personality on worshiping him and, generally, the least interesting of the Beat poets. One rarely hears of Gary Snyder around here...

American academic poetry is virtually unknown in my country, where poets tend to not know much beyond Bukowski and Ginsberg, yet I find it impressive.

My first crosspost to Bluesky and Mastodon via this OpenVibe client thingy.... seems to be working.

"Ceasefire" is becoming the most hollowed word of this historical era. It is now a certainty that whenever this word is being employed, it always means rather the opposite. Each new fire refuses to cease.

My poem "in (380 mg)" was written in calligraphic lines, each line a single stroke, except for the dots on the "i"'s, stripes on the "t"'s, and the diacritics. Going to use it as front page image on my upcoming website...

Nice interview with a great Romanian-Canadian poet I've met years ago, when she performed for the first and only time in Bucharest. periodicityjournal.blogspot.com/2025/03/nina...

For the record, I don't drink, I don't take drugs - other than cheese (will only take tofu when I find it cheaper), chocolate, sugar... One might add music in here too. Polemics and ranting are still part of my "brand", at least for now. But I should stop... See you when I get something done.

Yes, I come from an Eastern Europea lower middle class family, how could you tell? Thanks to my parents and our rent-free commie apartment, I could dedicate years to reading and writing... then I faced the realities of the job market, the real estate market, and politics.

In my high school and college years, I read #poetry of nearly all types and traditions, despite knowing from early on what I preferred, because I took the craft seriously and also wanted myself to be taken seriously.

For the last few years, I've been working on a poem where 'Bifo' Berardi is kidnapped by a gang of poets. Berardi insists that poetry detaching from "reality" is akin to financial speculation, while they want him to think how to escape this conundrum. I have failed so far to think the ending.

Derrida wasn't an anarchist punk per se, he was just an intellectual who happened to take the project of Western philosophy to its peak of self-consciousness. Conservatives confusing that for a demolition derby are an autoimmune disease that will actually lead to self-destruction.

Always eyerolling when I read "intelligent" conservatives who almost get it, but insist on sticking to the transphobic transcript. Also, obligatory mention of Derrida being misrepresented almost every single time...

There is bipartisan interest in the Senate to repeal section 230 of the CDA and make it possible to sue a website over what people post on it. This is a terrible idea especially given the current administration and it’s unsurprising that Democrats are being clueless enough to go along.

Mandelshtam remained in history for being maimed by Stalin, which is an unfair fate when I recall his subtle ambient poetry that I've savored in high school... Maybe I should revisit him in between my more punk readings.
