When we legalize housing wonderful things can happen. www.rmpbs.org/blogs/housin...

When we organized Denver's single-stair design competition, THIS is the vision we had, that the creative vision for better housing designs be shared widely to build supply for single-stair reform. Thank you @yimbydenver.bsky.social for advocating for better housing and better cities for Colorado.

A couple of our leads sat down to talk all things YIMBY Denver on the Denver Urbanism podcast! Check it out here or wherever you get your podcasts. open.spotify.com/episode/1dVn...

Action Alert! The YIGBY and Ed bill will likely go to the Senate floor by the end of the week. Please contact your Senator and ask them to support this important bill actionnetwork.org/letters/tell...

Great to see HB25-1093 signed! Our @yimbydenver.bsky.social & YIMBY Fort Collins chapters supported this bill and and their members testified on its behalf. The bill prohibits urban localities from reducing residential density without compensating for those lost homes elsewhere in the locality 👏

Want to help shape the future of land use in Denver? Join this town hall tomorrow night to make your voice heard. Cities are for people, not cars!

Room full of parking nerds here! Come say hi.

Our official endorsements for this legislative session! These bills address some of our core solutions to the housing crisis: fixing bad incentives, legalizing more housing, increasing housing stability, streamlining permitting, and funding affordable housing.

Tonight! Come hang out with us.

Looking to up your urbanist knowledge? We’re starting a book club! On May 7th we’ll be discussing Paved Paradise, which looks at the hidden power of parking in shaping our cities and environment. Pick up your copy today at the library or favorite local bookstore! www.eventbrite.com/e/books-for-...

Did you see us at the Bernie rally at Civic Center today? The rent is too damn high!

We’ve got TWO happy hours coming up soon! March 25th at Yard House, and a joint event with the Parking Reform Network on March 30th at Henry’s Tavern. Raise a glass with us at one (or hopefully both!) of these events🍻🍻 www.eventbrite.com/e/yimby-denv... www.eventbrite.com/e/yimby-denv...

YIGBY passes the House! Thank you to everyone who called and emailed the representatives about this important bill. Onto the senate!

Ever wonder why apartment buildings look the way they do? I wrote an article on the building and zoning codes - such as height limits in the US and daylight access in China - that determine the design of apartments. worksinprogress.co/issue/chines...

"The answer to a politics of scarcity is a politics of abundance; a politics that asks what it is that people really need and then organizes government to make sure there is enough of it.” @ezraklein.bsky.social www.nytimes.com/video/opinio...

Interested in supporting Colorado's Smart-Stair reform efforts? Register to testify on March 18 in support of HB25-1273 which would unlock small lot infill across the state by tailoring the building code to allow small apartments. @yimbydenver.bsky.social www.leg.state.co.us/clics/clics2...

“Neighbors protested the rezoning, complaining it might bring more traffic, parking issues and change the character of the neighborhood.” If you say this about a duplex meant for a family and their parents, you might just be a NIMBY. Shame on council for agreeing. www.cbsnews.com/colorado/new...

"HB25-1169 was inspired by the “Yes In God’s Backyard” movement, or YIGBY. Think of it like a religious counterweight to NIMBYism" You got that right. We at @yimbydenver.bsky.social are bringing in Jesus and the 12 to take on Kevin Broomer's anti-housing crusade. coloradosun.com/2025/02/06/y...

In summer 2021, Portland re-legalized fourplexes & secondary ADUs. Things started slow, but new data shows that in the years since, 21% of all homes built in the city were 2-4plexes & ADUs www.sightline.org/wp-content/u...

The report indicates that most of the homebuilding of middle housing units is in the popular and already expensive East Portland neighborhoods, with prices on average selling for less than 250,000 of new single detached homes.

Nobody puts affordability requirements on McMansions.

Removing expensive parking mandates across the front range is all the rage.

“For only the third time in records going back to 1990, rents in metro Denver declined year-over-year… The region added nearly 20,000 new apartments last year, about double the typical pace seen in recent years.” www.denverpost.com/2025/01/24/m...

Thank you to everyone who came to our legislative kickoff this week! It was wonderful to see a packed room of people passionate about fixing our housing shortage. Thanks especially to the elected officials who came to discuss their bills with us—we appreciate your work!
