Tired of waiting for that sequel, or the 3rd or 4th installment of your favorite book series? Why wait? The Geomancer’s Apprentice is one of the books in this month-long BookFunnel event that showcases completed #urbanfantasy series. Yep. No more waiting. Check it out! 🔗👇

The characters in my books lead exciting lives. Me? Not so much. But we did have a little bit of excitement today when a semi overturned on one of the roads to town. It took hours for the police and tow trucks to get the vehicle off the road. No serious injuries, thank goodness.

I’ve been enjoying The Mammoth Book of Folk Horror edited by Stephen Jones. The anthology is a nice mix of the old and new. The stories include those written by the old masters, including M.R. James. H.P. Lovecraft and Algernon Blackwood. See my full review: 🔗👇 #bookreview #readingcommunity

If you like #folklore AND #horror, then folk horror may be the genre for you. It’s a subgenre of horror that uses folklore, folk beliefs, urban legends and/or paganism to evoke fear and dread. Read my blog post for more on folk horror: 🔗 in comments ...

It was a day of delightful flurries. The winter sun had a hard time breaking through the clouds, in sharp contrast to yesterday’s clear blue sky. #nature #naturelovers

We spotted a gray fox this afternoon, feasting on our compost. Gray foxes are rarer than red foxes, but not uncommon. However, this is the first time we’ve ever seen one. Gray foxes are also known as tree foxes because they can climb trees.

My husband and I were in Warrenton, Va., today to run an errand. When we were done, we stopped by The Open Book, an independent bookstore, to check out its fantasy section. I loved that the customers included a group of little kids. It’s never too soon to make books a part of a child’s life. 😄

It’s a dreary, drippy kind of day today. The clouds are streaming over the mountains, looking for all the world like a thick layer of icing on a cake. The outside world always seems more mysterious on a day like this. Which is why it’s perfect weather for reading and writing. 😆

It's a snow day for us today. Tomorrow it's snow, freezing rain and sleet. Joy ... 😒

One great thing about living in the sticks is there’s always a ready supply of firewood. We’ve been heating our house for a couple of years now with the remnants of two large white oaks that my neighbor cut down. 😀

Get ready for adventure! A failed barista, a struggling geomancer, feng shui, Washington DC, ghosts and monsters. What could go wrong? EVERYTHING!! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ ~ "Empowering, fun, and excellently written" Please check out my Geomancer's Apprentice series: 🔗👇

Today is the 1st day of the Chinese/Lunar New Year, kicking off the Year of the Wood Snake. The focus this year will be on taking stock, exercising caution, and adapting for continued growth. See my website for more on the new year: 🔗👇

The weather was nice today so we walked down to our stream. Its mantle of ice and snow from our recent bitter cold period is finally melting away.

struggling a bit while i job hunt, so any boosts of my coffee donation link to help me out would be amazing! i truly do appreciate even just a repost ☕️🤎🤍 and thank you, seriously, to everyone who has sent me a cup of coffee. it means so much 😘 ko-fi.com/rjcrunden/

I just watched Wonka. Charming, whimsical, and heartwarming. But it’s hard not to like a movie centered around chocolate. I thought Timothee Chalamet and the other cast members did a great job. I loved the set design. Two thumbs up! 😄

Oreo contemplating the trails he made in the snow. It’s 5 degrees F here (-15 degrees C for everybody else), which is much colder than we’re used to in the U.S. mid-Atlantic. I hope everyone (including the birds and animals) has somewhere to go to shelter from tonight’s frigid temperatures.

Our second substantial #snowfall of the New Year … This is a particularly wonderful sight given that snowfall has been lacking in Virginia over the last few years. 😄

Won’t you help? 🥺

Finally spotted the agile culprit who’s been at our bird feeders. He doesn’t leave much behind for the poor birdies. 😕

Look what arrived today! I’ve been meaning to read Dune since I saw the first #Dune movie starring Timothee Chalamet and Zendaya. Have you read the book(s)? If yes, what did you think of them?

Yippee! The Geomancer’s Apprentice—the 1st book in my urban fantasy series—is ranking among the top 100 in Amazon Kindle’s folklore category. Thank you for reading! 😁 🔗👇 if you’d like to check out the book.

Yippee! A new review for the 5th book in my series. I’m especially delighted because it’s challenging for later books in a series to gather reviews. Not only that, the reviewer thought it was the best of my five books. So .. if you’ve read the earlier books in my series ... 1/2

Whoa, it's almost whiteout conditions over here. Our first real snowfall of the season ... 😄

Watched Dune 2 last night. Wow. It deserves all the hype. Great battle scenes. Timothee Chalamet was incredible. Maybe I'll watch Wonka next ... 🤔
