"The amount of water required to wash coal for the Grassy Mountain mine is something on the order of 600 million liters/ year. In drought that’s almost half of the volume remaining in the Oldman Reservoir. Coal is thirsty." crowsnestheadwaters.substack.com/p/unallocate...

Good message. Great harmony.

"North America’s largest urban solar power park is set to take shape in Medicine Hat, Alta., following the sale on Tuesday of a 325 megawatt (MW) project to the prairie city. " #ABsolar

When I drink alcohol, everyone says Im an alcoholic. But when I drink Fanta, no one says Im Fantastic.

Well, now. "The Gone": a combo Ireland/Kiwi mystery series. Good acting. Well written - lots of unvoiced acting moving the plot along. Maori traditions. And those gorgeous New Zealand landscapes.

I keep a variety of email accts just to keep my life organized: work/friends/hobbies etc. But good gravy, gmail is terrible. What a gawdawful mess of promotions & headings of stuff I've no use for. Takes a lot of tweaking to make it remotely concise & useful.

ABn and Cdn Conservatives keep telling us that they're the watchdogs of our money. That we have to keep voting for them because they're financially canny. But when in government they throw our tax money around like it was confetti - hoping they get a piece of the action. Check the costs...

The billionaires are trying to tank the economy so there’s a recession. What happens in a recession? Stock values drop. Which means you can buy up a fuckload of debt and cheap stock, then make more billions when the economy recovers. They’re playing silly buggers with lives.

The Polyev #CPC say that Private Companies do it better. I guess it depends on who is the beneficiary of better.

Unlike most of the other newspapers in Canada, the Lethbridge Herald is NOT owned by Postmedia...hmmmmm en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Postmed...

I often think about my great-uncle Thomas who served in a tank in WW2 and fought at the Battle of the Bulge. He was really important to me when I was growing up. I can’t imagine how furious he would be right now.

LaGrange said she wasn't told what was going on in her ministry. Guthrie said she step down. Now Guthrie says he didn't know what was going on in his ministry but it's no big deal. Guthrie took hockey tickets from the seller.

The public should understand that we're in what I call the Age of Missing Accountability. Politicians at all levels, oversight boards, professional regulators like the Law Society of Alberta, corporations etc. simply refuse to answer questions from the media.

A new @carrietait.bsky.social & @alannasmith.bsky.social story reveals that Alberta's Turkish meds importer had stakes in proposed private surgery co's tied up in AHS ex-CEO's allegations. So much in here: www.theglobeandmail.com/canada/alber...

A billionaire has privileged access to government decisionmaking. Evidence suggests he's manipulating the system to enrich himself and his companies. Members of the governing party remain silent as the evidence mounts.

Luv the Beaverton:

For clarity: a minister might not have to *approve* all contracts in his portfolio. But he is absolutely *accountable* to the legislature for them under our system of responsible government.

SCOOP - A big payout for Sam Mraiche and major embarrassment for Infrastructure Minister Peter Guthrie, who called for the health minister to step down last week. Mraiche Profited from Quick Sale of Property to UCP Government via @thetyee.ca thetyee.ca/News/2025/02...

100% this! We talk a lot about 'independence' of the young 'uns. But real independence was more evident decades ago when youth were pushed out to face the real world w/o the interference of too many 'helicopter parents' trying to make life easier for their cubs.
