When I started this long term position I had a class that was so dysfunctional and disrespectful that I accidentally said wtf out loud in class. It was horrible. 6 weeks later this is my best class, highest grades, and the amount of hugs and compliments I get every day is amazing. Never give up ❤️

I took a day off from school today so I could spend 3.5 hours on LA freeways and 15 minutes in a doctor's office. Prognosis: yup everything still looks normal. #cancersucks Two more years of "looks normal" before I get an all clear.

Today I told a class that conservation of mass means that when a solid melts into a liquid, the mass does not change. A 7g candy bar weighs the same as a 7g puddle of liquid candy bar. Nobody could tell me why on a bar graph all the wights were the same. Am I doing this right?

Teaching is hard. You have to give kids experiences in order for them to feel a lesson. Kids remember the way we make them feel. This is a great teacher.

As a substitute for the last two years, I am shocked at how little teachers use their school librarians. Do projects! Work with your librarian! Teach kids to do research in books as well as digitally.
