NEW: AHS' ex-CEO wasn't just warning private surgical contracts cost more than AHS-performed surgeries.' Also: expanding private centres would "negative consequences for patients and communities" in hospitals & hamper urgent care. www.cbc.ca/news/canada/... by CBC's Julia Wong

"Ms. Gray, during Question Period, asked multiple times why the Premier cancelled the forensic audit, which was being conducted by a law firm, according to Ms. Mentzelopoulos’s statement of claim. Ms. Smith didn’t answer the question..." #ableg #abpoli www.theglobeandmail.com/canada/alber...

OMG, this sounds just like how PP talks about Canada! #CdnPoli

In my singular opinion, this isn’t just the worst government scandal I’ve ever seen in this province, I suspect history will prove it to be one of the worst in the country. They’re gonna need to audit every minister’s portfolio, at this point. Something seems terribly awry. 😳 #ableg

As a Canadian, I agree 💯 Do not kick people who are trying to make America better. They have a huge fight on their hands and are really, really traumatized. Canada’s fight is with Trump and his sycophants - the same people decent Americans are standing against and we should support them.

Trump turned Liberal Party support in Canada into a hockey stick. 🏒

Pretty sure it will include further attacks on minority populations of Alberta. They can’t help themselves.

Good Morning, Alberta! It’s Budget Day in Wild Rose Country! Brace yourself! albertapolitics.ca/2025/02/good...

NEW: At Alberta Health Services, the one-man board (Andre Tremblay) changes bylaws so that only the health deputy minister (Tremblay) can be interim CEO (currently Tremblay). Then Min LaGrange ordered rule changed again when Smith moved him (Tremblay) out as health DM... www.cbc.ca/news/canada/...

Hey, all you HCWs in America that are eyeing the north as a place to go, might I warn you that Alberta may not be it.

Rick Bell of Calgary Herald is flabberghasting. it is embarrassing to be Rick Bell calgaryherald.com/opinion/colu...

If only Neudorf wasn't useless. Time to buck up Nathan. Are you okay with all this?

Things will never be the same between Canada and the United States thanks to Donald Trump and his gang of traitors. Vladimir Putin is rubbing his hands with glee.

A little background id you want to know who I am and what I stand for. #vote youtu.be/dQCTVlzXYv4?...

Anyone suprised?

A day after the premier accused AHS of "footdragging"on privatization of surgical services, AHS fires back with proof that MHCare was the one delaying -- taking money for nothing. www.theglobeandmail.com/canada/alber...

Booing the national anthem of a country your President has threatened to annex isn’t the flex you think it is.

If the Conservative party had half a brain among them they would call for a Leadership review Skippy is crashing and taking them all with him. Pierre Poilievre continues to prove that he’s unfit to be prime minister cultmtl.com/2024/12/pier...

“What we have seen though, since the tariff announcements, is that our sales from Canada into the U.S. have actually dropped very significantly,” said Alexis von Hoensbroech, WestJet’s chief executive officer. www.ctvnews.ca/calgary/arti...

Crack in the armour. They need to be dismissed or resign, not put in other government departments. What are they going give Lagrange after the procurement health scandal...? Put her in Public Safety & Emergency Services and have the police get kick backs for their contracts, too...?

America is SUPPORTING FULL-ON FASCISM AROUND THE WORLD now. US Vice President Vance shuns Scholz and meets AfD party leader instead. www.euronews.com/2025/02/14/u...

History buffs will know that every authoritarian leader eventually converges on some version of: "I *am* the state. I can not break the law, I am the law, the law is instantiated in me." Our march to authoritarianism so far has been excruciatingly by-the-book. Hitting every beat. No surprises.

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

@ec.europa.eu European Union must promptly form a European Military Force with a nuclear capacity, which Canada and UK (and perhaps Turkey) must be part of. Such defensive formation would operate in support of NATO, but must have the capacity to replace it. Hard new reality to accept. #cdnpoli

"Mentzelopoulos claims in her lawsuit that Alberta Surgical Group (ASG) ... was projected to exceed its contract by almost $3.5 million in billings and at the same time wasn't performing the number of surgeries required under the terms of its deal with AHS." www.cbc.ca/news/canada/...

First crack in caucus solidarity. Wonder what the UCP polling is showing. Redford was at 12 per cent when the caucus rebelled.

Americans really need to stop rationalizing this. If Trump ever did annex Canada, which he is now threatening to do on a daily basis, it’s very unlikely he’s going to give Canadians any kind of meaningful voting rights (and no one up here is going to vote for the do-nothing Democrats).

I am old enough to remember when the US stood up to Russia and put them in their place. Now the US under Trump gives Russia everything they want. Basically the US let Russia win the old cold war. Never thought the US would rollover so easily and lose the war without even a whimper.

Is this a weird time to mention Edmonton Police refused to provide me with pages of internal correspondence on my name? I wonder what those consultations were.

The "restore trust" BS pushed by GOP & RFK Jr? Formula: use lies, rage and polarization to destroy trust then promise to restore trust. Alas, it worked.

I saw Mark Carney speak tonight. A few observations: He’s very clear-eyed about our situation with the U.S. His economic focus is using our vast resources to build industry (processing those raw materials rather than simply exporting). He’s bent on ensuring we generate income to pay for our needs.

Anyway, this is why I was interested in sorting out who went to Edmonton Oilers games. And why government (and non-govt) officials weren't keen on telling me.

When do we stop treating UCP ventures to Washington as diplomatic missions, and start recognizing them as field trips? thetyee.ca/Analysis/202...

GOP Rep. Eli Crane is drafting articles of impeachment for District Judge Paul A. Engelmayer because he issued an injunction blocking DOGE from accessing Treasury financial data of millions of Americans. This is classic authoritarian intimidation of the judiciary to remove checks on the executive.

Charlie Angus has cornered the political market on straight talk about Trump’s plans for Canada. Canadian politicians should be fearless and direct about how they’re going to defend our country. They don’t *all* have to speak as plainly as Charlie does, but a few more would be fine by me. 🇨🇦

President Trump seems to think he can suspend the laws of the United States, of international trade, and of economics. The American Congress and US courts will decide for themselves how they will address these violations of Presidential powers. (1/3)

Truly sad and humiliating to see Donald Trump, the President, just sit there weak and quiet as Elon Musk, an unelected billionaire, acts like the President and talks to the media in the Oval Office. Wild scene.

Premier Smith's abdication of responsibility is galling as it is predictable. The UCP had seized full control of the body when the alleged wrongdoings took place. It's been their beast for years. I raised red flags about this peril of populism three years ago. edmontonjournal.com/news/politic...

The Western Standard is taking banner ad money from an avowed anti-Canada/pro-separatist group.

This is truly the Golden Age of Assholes.

Fentanyl is small and easy to hide, so it is mostly smuggled while hidden in cars being driven through border checkpoints — often by Americans. Stationing soldiers at the border does basically nothing to stop this.

I stopped by the liquor store to say farewell to the massive selection of Kentucky bourbon on the shelves. We are the number one export market for Kentucky spirits. On Tuesday, all American booze is being pulled off the shelves. We will drink Canadian whiskey. True. North. Strong. Free of bourbon.

Turns out the Drizz is kind of a hero

As he has said all along, President Trump has issued tariffs that will wreak havoc on the Canadian economy, attacking the single most important trade relationship Canadians have with the world. These tariffs will have a devastating impact on our jobs, our economy, and our way of life. /1
