Exactly nothing from the Welker interview comes as a surprise. Welker was flaccid and ineffectual. Donald was Donald. Our establishment news media is broken. Other western nations are doing democracy and the press far better than we are. By a lot. Shameful.

Meiselas: Those Republicans were sure ready to cover up child sex trafficking. They were rushing to cover it up. They were blaming the media for it. And one of the things Trump did during this awful transition was basically expose the entire Republican Party as being a pro-sex trafficking party.

The idea that we have to engage with fascists and bigots to "broaden our horizons" is some marketplace of ideas bullshit that is ONLY applied when marginalized groups say collectively "fuck you, bigot" and then organize a space accordingly. It is applied NOWHERE else.
