that reminds me, it genuinely disgusts me when i hear the whole "it feels like it was made by ai" criticism thrown at certain animated films clearly made by humans
it is anti-artist to even imply that it was put together with ai/an algorithm especially considering alot of this came during strikes

i do agree with the point that animation fans online should seek out non-mainstream movies but unfortunately a lot of the non-mainstream stuff that actually gets released in theaters here are either in limited release (usually NY/LA only) or are stuff like this

didn't he say at one point that it would be different compared to the books and the original animated film? perhaps the strikes or epic universe coming near it made them shift it into a shot for shot remake

You know that recent Adam Elliot movie Memoir of a Snail? Most of the posts and LB reviews I've seen of it say some shit about how "Animation is Cinema People" would never branch out to other films like that one, and little to nothing about how the actual movie is!

it's been super prevalent since certain accounts on other social media platforms started completely twisting Del Toro's Animation is Cinema statement into something it wasn't, and making the quote to most people into a complete and utter joke when his points about it are totally correct
