Slowly getting used to Woolfā€™s writing.

A lovely poem to remind us that nobody ever really knows what goes on between two people (and often not even the two themselves)

I ticked so many things off my to do list this week, some of them that were really big things giving me anxiety, some of them lighter like finishing my book by the end of the monthā€¦ Feels good :)

I searched "old postcards" of the town I grew up in and this is what I found :) I'd say early 20th century pictures? I love that everyone wore hats.

En direct, cinquante ans de la loi VeilĀ : suivez notre journĆ©e spĆ©ciale

Still thinking about that little improvised walk I took inside Notre Dame de Paris yesterday night. What a sight, and so many feelings and memories of going there in the years before the fire, when she was all dark. Now she is glowing šŸ’«

Starting a little thread about my first reading of The Gift of Wings.

New book on my favourite shelf šŸ§”

First best thing to happen in 2025 : to open my mailbox out of boredom with no other expectations than spam & to discover a lovely PM from a beloved ffnet writer. The excitement, gratitude & joy is unparalleled for me. Itā€™s always so lovely to hear from people. This also means: new chapter soon!!

Ending 2024 with no other plans than watching a beautiful movie. The absolute grace of La Chimera āœØšŸ‘ŒšŸ»

A year of readings! 25 books is not super impressive but I tried my best, and compared to previous years I am pretty pleased to have read that much, and also very different books (three volumes of Lucy Maud Montgomery's selected journals was an odyssey!) Looking forward to more books in 2025!

Last read of 2024 : Trust, by Hernan Diaz. Winner of the Pulitzer indeed. Wow. Impressive in so many levels.. the structure, the way it makes you question things, fictional or real. I love a book that makes me think. And feel. So many feelings here. A strong end to a year of reading šŸ’™

Tove Ditlevsenā€™s Copenhagen trilogy. I loved it so much even if it was very hard at times. Such honesty and deep insight into someoneā€™s mind. Also very interesting to read about the 20ā€™s, 30ā€™s and 40ā€™s in Denmark. āļøāļøāļøāļøāļø

Of course we translated "The Holdovers" into "Winter Break" because that's what we French do... šŸ™ƒ Very good Christmas movie though.

The Christmas tree at Shakespeare and co in Paris ā¤ļø

Dahlias on film from the Jardin des Plantes in Paris, my favourite parisian park. I love the imperfections of analog pictures. That blue shadow is due to a camera that didn't close perfectly and the film was exposed to the light.

I was browsing Etsy yesterday and found this beautiful Language of Flowers book from 1870. It reminded me of the one in Anne with an E.

On Emily Dickinson's birthday, peek inside her teenage herbarium ā€“ a forgotten masterpiece at the intersection of poetry and science, which was her first great work of composition

Sunday reading. Finished Rachel Cuskā€™s The Aftermath (in French because I found it at the library šŸ«£). Becoming obsessed with this writer. So good. Starting Tove Ditlevsenā€™s Copenhagen trilogy next (in French because I canā€™t read Danish šŸ˜…). Iā€™ve heard so much about it, Iā€™m excited!

J'ai choisi mon premier ministre (c'est Paul McCartney)

I love this! Their slightly ferocious look is fun and it looks like they are competing for something, in true Anne and Gilbert fashion :) It reminded me of this wonderful one shot fic : archiveofourown.org/works/194532... #AnneWithAnE

Le mur des ā€œje tā€™aimeā€, ce matin Ć  Paris. (ā€œI love youā€ wall in Paris, this morning.)
