I cannot describe how strange Elon Musk’s CPAC appearance was

I hope America is as lucky as the delta jet - everyone survives but the right wing explodes

Abruptly firing people who work in air traffic control is like murdering your own soldiers in the middle of a war. Even if you think things now aren’t working as efficiently as they should there’s no clear path to recovering from this; it’s just a really extremely foolish and dangerous thing to do.

Elon's DOGE is going to be America's Brexit, full of unintended consequences and buyer's remorse.

Engraving on the exterior of the United States Department of Justice headquarters.

This shit doesn’t happen in France and I’ll tell you why: the rich went too far once and they cut all their heads off and now, when those in power fuck workers over, the French stop working. Don’t forget your real power Americans. They don’t let you have unions for a reason.

The most dangerous sentiment in politics—perhaps in life—is the complacent shrug of ‘How much worse could it get?’ History, with its usual icy precision, always replies: ‘Oh, you’ll see.’

“You need to think this stuff through, dumbass,” the 4-year-old said.

One unexpected benefit of the tariff threat: Canadian flags are waiving proudly again. 🇨🇦 The damage done by the Trucker Convoy and their Occupation of Ottawa are a distant, regrettable memory. I don’t remember Canada being so united, coast to coast!

Mark Carney is made for this moment. He is the leader who transcends party lines. He is a serious leader with a serious plan. He is simply the best, most experienced, most qualified person in the world to be the next Prime Minister of Canada

🔥 AMAZING. Today, the Baltic states disconnected their power grids from that of Russia. It’s taken years of prep. What a moment.

You are making a big difference in standing up to tyranny. Your decision to cancel the family trip to the United States is freaking them out. As Donald insults our nation, businesses are watching our tourism dollars dry up. Boycott all trips to the United States. www.thetravel.com/us-travel-as...

BASH: I remember a time when Republicans were very careful about the government having access to personal data NOEM: Well, we can't trust the government anymore BASH: You are the government

Good trouble. Austin, TX

Meanwhile in Canada (near the US border)

Mark Carney identified the merit in Trump’s fight against fentanyl, and looks forward to working with him to end the scourge. That’s how you deal with the Orange Menace: take it and turn it. He’s acting like he’s PM already, and Canadians are here for it. 👍

Canadian retailers do a good job of identifying Canadian products; that practice has to shift into Overdrive now. When choosing between 2 comparable products I need to know which one supports 🇨🇦 producers. Put our 🇨🇦 flag on the shelf, on the packaging, stamp it on the eggs. Canadians know what to do.

IMPORTANT: If you live in the United States or Canada, you’ve probably heard Trump‘s constant claim that the United States is “subsidizing” Canada. It’s wrong of course, but here’s the best explanation I’ve seen about how & why it’s wrong. PLEASE WATCH & SHARE IT A LOT. Kudos to Andrew Chang & CBC.

ohh now I get why "may you live in interesting times" is a curse

We need a song from Dolly Parton about this “Pistol Packin’ Mama” who killed her first husband and her lover’s wife, and ended up in a tiny corn town in Alberta. www.cbc.ca/amp/1.7446150

MapQuest is NOT renaming the Gulf of Mexico. Our maps are like grandma's Thanksgiving recipes — once they're printed, they're not changing. The Gulf of Mexico stays put on MapQuest.

Assuming we make it through the next couple of decades, this will be an incredible image for future historians/students of the Trump era

Hearing him say the words “air traffic controller” sends a chill down my spine. He’s literally the last person I want involved in my industry, in the United States or anywhere else.

How boring is Pierre Poilievre that millions of Canadians are suddenly excited about the idea of being led by a *banker*?

Six months ago I picked #Mastodon based on its structure and values. I willfully blinded myself to other options. This week I relented and gave #BlueSky a try: honestly it’s a lot closer to what I’m looking for. Simpler and more approachable. I’m happier here. I hope it’s scalable and sustainable.

If you find that your uninformed personal opinion disagrees with expert consensus on a technical topic, please consider that “all the experts know something I don’t” is a much more likely explanation than “I alone solved a complex problem that all the world’s experts have long been studying.”

“Carbon taxes won’t work!” the little man screamed, as his sport utility vehicle slowly floated away with the tide.

@kitstardancer.bsky.social I’m not convinced Bluesky is *the* Twitter replacement yet; I was kinda pulling for Mastodon. But you convinced me to at least try it, and join the username landgrab. 😊
