I’d love to read something on Chelsea 04-05 and their defence. How did they concede 15 goals in a whole Premier League campaign? Defies belief. Different era of football now but even so, nobody is close.

This Swiss Champions League format is interesting in parts. We’ve seen a lot of upsets but there is absolutely no need for 8 group games. This Liverpool - Girona game is boring the life out of everyone watching. Football for the sake of it. Champions League games reduced to FA Cup Replay status.

The biggest sporting problem with the Club World Cup is that after the group stages it’s just going to be a rehash of the Champions League knockouts. There might be a surprise or two but eventually the European powerhouses are going to win out and that is going to be boring.
