I beat Super Metroid today. It is a really good game, and I loved it very much, and it reminded me of how-- not unlike the assassination of JFK-- video games have a way of seeming like just a really fun pleasant time, but then suddenly they hit you with surprise emotions that you never saw coming.

Something that's missing from my childhood: Snow suits. When I was in kindergarten, we almost always had to put on snow suits before recess (much to the chagrin of the teachers, lol) because of the cold and snow. I saw a bunch of kids yesterday fooling around in the snow, but not one snow suit.

So I did find some time to watch Sonic 3 last weekend. My hot take: it’s a little overrated. I was disappointed with some of the story decisions that caused it to lose some of the tone of SA2’s original story. I still enjoyed it more than the first two movies and Keanu is excellent for Shadow!

I rolled credits on Octopath Traveler 2 over the weekend. Incredible game, really enjoyed the ending and it’s instantly on my top 10 JRPGs of all time! The first one was also great, but literally every aspect of it was made better in this sequel. If you even remotely enjoy JRPGs, PLAY THIS GAME!

The first galaxy game remains my favorite video game of all time and in my personal opinion… It’s the best 3D platformer ever made. The sequel is fantastic, but skewed a little too much towards course-clear Mario games for my liking. I get why most people think the sequel is better though…

I’m coming to the end of Octopath 2 with only the final main story chapters of 3 characters left to complete. I’ll probably wrap up with about 80 total hours and I’ve loved every minute of it! The soundtrack is an all-timer that I will be listening to for years. So many melodies living in my head!
