How does a VERY serious writer track which days they wrote? With colorful nature stickers of course!!

Los Angeles abject noir

Current story I'm writing if it were a: musical genre: sludge metal video game: Death Stranding animal: half-eaten walrus corpse food: destroying angel soup in black bile broth

Local neighborhood graffiti Cryptid.

Beyond excited to announce that my story "Avila Beach" will be appearing in the upcoming issue of "Seize the Press," one of my absolute favorite lit mags! @seizethepress.bsky.social There will be severed body parts, a sketchy government compound, and teenagers with no hope for the future galore.

Just got my print copy of Weird Horror 10! From @undertow.bsky.social. Get weird! Get horrified!

I will soon be rocking this Baba Yaga shirt as a loving reminder of how much my Ukrainian grandma scared me about her as a child

"It doesn’t have to be the way it is. That is what fantasy says. It doesn’t say, “Anything goes”—that’s irresponsibility...Fantasy doesn’t say, “Nothing is”—that’s nihilism. And it doesn’t say, “It ought to be this way”—that’s utopianism, a different enterprise. shorturl.at/nINVF Ursula K. LeGuin

Not sure exactly what it will look like, but I feel a story brewing whose protagonist will be mycelium and the mycorrhizal network that connects fungi and plants across great distances

My story "The Bats Under the Fletcher Street Bridge" has just been published in Reforestation magazine, dedicated to visions of urban nature in Los Angeles. reforestationmag.com/the-bats-und... You'll find talking coyotes, meteors, & humans grappling with how to resettle a post-disaster LA.

Very important to have a computer that makes you happy every time you go to write

Wanted to praise @mdmoustaf.bsky.social Moustapha Mbacke Diop's "The Nydayaan Sea" in the Winter 2024 edition of Fantasy and Science Fiction. A wonderful story about a magical island stolen from one sister by another, based on a Senegalese folktale. Truly numinous. #africansff #darkfantasy

At long last, Lovecraft meets Progressive Death Metal in Alkaloid's "Cthulhu." Let speculative fiction fans and metalheads unite! youtu.be/sidk6sU5bXs?... #lovecraft #deathmetal #cthulhu #horror

I have a new story coming out March 1st in Reforestation magazine, with the theme of urban nature in Los Angeles. There will be meteor showers, talking coyotes, and a task force to decide if Los Angeles should be repopulated or not.

Reading this wonderful novel that answers the question, “What if a Polish astrologer became convinced deaths in her village were the result of murderous wildlife?” #specfic #olgatokarczuk #tokarczuk

Bartok was metal before there was metal. youtu.be/uEpPsh4ZqBY?... #metal #bartok #classicalmusic

Some (slightly) older news. My story, "No Donuts" is now available to read in Bone Parade Issue 17! www.boneparade.com/2024/12/30/n... Come for themes of psychosomatic pain, riot grrl, and antiwork, stay for the donuts. @boneparade.bsky.social #boneparade #specfic #antiwork

Good news! My story "A Streak of Tigers" has been accepted for the upcoming issue of Syncopation Literary Journal, on music in the 80's. You can expect magical leather jackets, sabertooth tigers, metal shows, and all sorts of teenage love. @syncopationlit.bsky.social #specfic #metal #80s

There's a part of me that is very pleased to know that Schubert (died 1828) might have been reincarnated as Emily Dickinson (b. 1830). Is that enough time? I don't know how these things work.
