Anyone that runs will know that five weeks is not long enough to train for your first half marathon. However, due to some excellent procrastination (and a delay with some kind of cold/flu) that's what's happening for me in February. Bring it on.

4YO, holding up a half eaten piece of apple: "This looks like a film". Me: "Oh, which one?" 4YO: "You know the film with the green eyed fairy and then the purple one gives her real feet? It looks like that, doesn't it?" Me, nodding wisely: "Yes." #EncouragingParent

First run in a while unaccompanied by one of the little'uns. Definitely a lot of work to do before my half marathon.

Possibly the best headline I've ever seen. Great work.

Can someone with game design knowledge explain how 4 hours disappeared when I merely thought "I guess I'll give this Balatro thing a try".

If you can't think of a synonym, just add a double negative (not not), for variety. #writing #writingtip #writingcommunity

My new year’s resolution generator for @theguardian.com. Let me know what you get!

Another Junior Parkrun this morning. Too cold for the 6yo but the 4yo was wrapped up and ready to go! Thanks to all the volunteers for patiently cheering her on despite the snow and 25 minute finish time!

And when did they start printing on the "Now a Major Motion Picture" stickers. I could take off a sticker!

Recently watched a Call of Cthulu playthrough on youtube and realised that I REALLY need to read some HP Lovecraft.

Book One of 2025 done on day one of 2025 and it was the excellent Firewalkers. My first time reading one of @aptshadow.bsky.social's works but by his reputation alone I was expecting some kind of insects to be involved. I was not disappointed.

Started the New Year with a Parkrun with the family. 6yo got his second full parkrun finish. 4yo managed one lap. Good way to start the year, despite the weather!

Book #9 this year was The Invisible Man, having received the SF Masterwok version for Christmas. It's a long time since I've read anything by HG Wells and it was very very good. Love his direct to the reader narrative voice.

Am I #supposed to #hashtag on here?

I'm proud to say I've now read 9 books this year. Slightly behind on the 52 book challenge but I figure I've still got time to make up the difference before New Year.

So this is like how Twitter used to be, right? Anyone cool to follow on here?
