"After nearly five hours, he and his wife were released. They are now pursuing legal action. "It's not about the immigrants," his sister, told NBC10 Boston. "It's coming to us Americans, and it's going to go after all of us." www.nbcboston.com/news/politic...

There’s just so much shady shit in this story, but this really sticks out. Folks in NLRB’s IT unit were so freaked out by what they saw DOGE doing that they wanted to notify the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency. Then this happened:

"the president defied a Supreme Court ruling to return a man mistakenly sent to a gulag... and spoke of sending Americans to foreign concentration camps. This is the beginning of an American policy of state terror, and it has to be identified as such to be stopped" snyder.substack.com/p/state-terror

DOGE is a criminal conspiracy to defraud the people of the United States

Breaking news: The European Commission is issuing burner phones and basic laptops to some US-bound staff to avoid the risk of espionage — a measure traditionally reserved for trips to China www.ft.com/content/20d0...

1/4. On the White House’s theory, if they abduct you, get you on a helicopter, get to international waters, shoot you in the head, and drop your corpse into the ocean, that is legal, because it is the conduct of foreign affairs.

Feeling a tiny bit hopeful!

Sometime soon Trump & his thugs will start revoking the passports of American citizens. There's plenty of precedent for it. Ask W.E.B. Du Bois. Ask Paul Robeson. Then we were in hysterics about communism. Now we're suppressing pro-Palestinian speech & any criticism of Israel.

Many products sold in the U.S. are made in El Salvador. In response to the El Salvador president’s statements today, we’re calling for an immediate boycott of all Salvadoran-made goods. Please help by listing any products or brands made in El Salvador in the comments below.

"The university will not surrender its independence or relinquish its constitutional rights. Neither Harvard nor any other private university can allow itself to be taken over by the federal government."

An excellent piece: "This administration ignoring due process is a violation of our rights– if they can deport someone without caring about their status, they can kidnap citizens– but it is also a reminder that solidarity is the only shelter we have."

20,000 in ruby red Utah on their feet, in community, and ready to organize for a better world. A better world is possible.

We are all witnesses to fascism. And it's not enough. I'm disabled and I'm tired and I'm TERRIFIED (multiple marginalized identities make me a target of this administration) but I'm out there protesting, donating to indie journalism, and writing my elected representatives. Witness and resist.

Amazing news!!!! I'm so proud to see that Harvard is in the fight!

People are very eager to let Whitmer off the hook for getting caught in an Oval Office photo op, so let’s take a quick look at the reason she was there

The 245-year-old American Academy of Arts & Sciences releases a statement rejecting assaults on scholarly and cultural institutions, the rule of law, & open inquiry--and calls on all Americans to "help fortify" democratic civic culture. www.amacad.org/news/board-s...

And this is why I donate to the ACLU monthly. Because they'll keep fighting. Because *someone* has to speak for the marginalized. If you can't make it monthly, even a one-time $5 donation helps Khalil—and all of us—preserve our freedoms. action.aclu.org/give/pm-dona...

Somebody needs to explain why Kristi Noem can walk in an out of the El Salvadoran Slave Labor Camp but nobody can confirm where Abrego Garcia is or how it would be possible to get him home? WTF is going on!!!

"A precedent has been set. Every international student in America today must accept that they may be abducted, detained and deported for attending a protest or expressing a view that upsets the White House or its allies." — #AJOpinion by @somdeepsen.bsky.social ⤵️

It's starting at State. This is not where it ends.

A fifth law firm capitulated today and agreed to become a Trump collaborator. Shameful.

Adolf Hitler's “Mein Kampf” is still on U.S. Naval Academy shelves. “I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings” and “Memorializing the Holocaust” are not. An order by Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth’s office led to a purge of books that are critical of racism — but preserved volumes defending white power.

What a despicable betrayal. There's no life for these people there. The veterans I know will be furious (as we all should be).

How is techno-fascism different from plain old fascism, you ask? Code is law. You simply cease to exist. Snap. You're gone. Good luck with getting any help with that. If this doesn't work, they also can start erasing any evidence that you *ever* existed.

Noticing a lot of media outlets breathlessly reporting on the "pause" though because they still haven't learned anything...

1) How the f–– is Customs supposed to administer tariffs set by the president at three separate rates over the last 24 hours? 2) How is this good news when the heightened tariff against China screws innumerable businesses from small drop-shippers to firms as enormous as Apple?

In retrospect should have created a legislature and given them power of the purse, but alas, I checked, article I very clearly says taxation is to be set by tweet

How is this not market manipulation? Asking genuinely; not my area of expertise.

The Supreme Court saying deportation targets must have due process (as long as they have a lawyer ready to go with a habeas suit who quickly notices an unannounced disappearing by unmarked agents) is Jim Crow stuff. You technically have rights, says the Court, you just won’t get to exercise them.

It's a superpower in that it works—people move on to the next disaster—but I don't believe it's all that deliberate. He's just a chaos agent.

"This isn’t just bad journalism. It’s a deliberate editorial choice that speaks volumes about how establishment media downplays collective action challenging power."

Going to be thinking about this, from Justice Jackson, for some time to come.
