Isn't handy that when a group of MPs call themselves "[Something] Research Group", you know that they are going to be slightly (or not so slightly) batty right-wingers? And who made that helpful rule? #r4today

In S3E2 of #BeyondParadise, the question is *repeatedly* asked as to why a female character would go for the "bad boy" (played by Kem Hassan) over dim-witted PC Kelby Hartford (played by Dylan Llewellyn)... SRLY? I don't understand how that's even a question, let alone a chronically baffling one...

BREAKING via AP Hungary's parliament has passed an amendment to the constitution that allows the government to ban public events by LGBTQ+ communities.

"Almost all the UK attacks reported in my study centred on LGBTQ+ materials." Meanwhile editors commission dozens more articles about the silencing of, perhaps, Britain's most published academic, Kathleen Stock. www.theguardian.com/books/2025/a...

"What you call 'green energy'", says Robinson... SRLY, #R4today?

After some kultcha (Victor Hugo's drawings at thw RA, and male form art in a private gallery), we were misled by Google Map halfway across town to a "nearby" café. Lovely banana and choc loaf, but everyone was about 15 in there (we were easily 3 times their age). #feelingold

Why is it that I can touch type on a keyboard but I can't align all the right letters in the right order on a phone?!?!

I was given this 330ml tin of still water with my lunch at an event yesterday, and I have a surpring number of thoughts about it...

Oopsie!

This 1220 AD illustration of gays and demons in the Apocalypse feels very Bsky-coded

Again: Britain (not just this government but all of the recent ones) has a problem with knowledge work. Fishing, steel are manly proper jobs with a Victorian sense of place and history. Creative industries & HE are treated as secondary; derided or ignored.

And here we go again: "books for boys"... ALL books are (/should be) for boys. Why the silly sexist restriction? And then #r4today wonders about people finding it hard to conform to enforced ideas of "masculanity"

Beyond the irony of Reform UK outflanking Labour on the subject of the nationalisation of the steel works, it could be said Farage is trying very hard to put the socialist into the national... #r4today

Why is Barnett asking Cooper the reasons for someone else's actions?! This is inane interviewing #r4today

"Being buffeted around from day to day" is exactly what's happening with Trump in charge, though #r4today

Yeah, about DOGE... #R4Today

Remember Trump is using emergency legislation for the tariffs. So the measures that were urgent and necessary to meet that emergency have now suddenly become non-urgent and unnecessary. If US congress and courts properly held president to account for misuse of emergency powers, this would matter.

Outlaw public existence of a one-day Pride parade and turn it into a month-long Pride march

Ah yes, the “art of the deal” where I threaten the entire world, but instead punch myself straight in the dick. After which interpret the audience’s laughter at my insanity as overwhelming support for my genius & a 💯 successful dick punch. I’m not sure I can’t take 3.5 more years of this bullshit.

It's good to have a goal in life...

90 percent. They sent innocent people to a gulag so Trump could look like a tough guy. www.bloomberg.com/news/article...

The US Christian right's agenda is arriving on UK shores with alarming momentum. Over $50m from US Christian right foundations flowed into Europe between 2008-2017. Now, in 2025, these groups – emboldened by evangelism in the White House – are upping their game. www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...

Ministers should listen to a powerful message from 32 nature organisations: the Planning Bill rides roughshod over nature protection, could push species towards extinction & cause greater loss of precious green space. Nature & development can go hand in hand - but this one-sided Bill isn’t the way

Because having a finger up your backside is such an emasculating thing for big manly men, hey? 🙄 Perhaps avoiding such silly rhetoric would be the start to getting more men to get tested #r4today
