I know there are many trans and non-binary people who will be feeling deeply worried today, caught in the midst of a media storm as they try to simply live their lives. Please know that I stand with you - today, tomorrow and always. My statement in response to the Supreme Court ruling today:

Trans communities are devastated by today’s ruling. Instead of bringing clarity, the Supreme Court has made a ruling which appears to contain a number of contradictions. The intent seems clear: to exclude trans people from society. Full statement: transactual.org.uk/blog/2025/04...

this ruling WILL go to the European Court of Human Rights. the absolute bar e minimum your government should do is take it there yourself but no instead, once again, it'll be left to some random trans person

This ruling comes from a process that heard from the whole rolodex of transphobic orgs, but didn't allow any trans people to give evidence. Cool system we've got. Makes total sense. Not just a cruelty machine.

This is where your Harry Potter money goes

I hope the members of For (a very narrow definition of) Women Scotland, their barristers, and the judges that ruled on this never know another day of peace. Trans women are women, trans men are men, non-binary identities are valid, and trans rights are human rights.

He is a union apprentice and raising three special needs kids, two of them from his wife's previous relationships so yes he is certainly in the running.

This picture may haunt me to the end of my days. It is an ICE agent taking an axe to the car window of an immigrant in New Bedford, MA. Not far from where I sit now. An immigrant with no criminal record was abducted by this smiling man. An axe taken to a car window and to our democracy. 1/ #MomSky

Blocking MPs from voting on a US trade deal would be straight out of Trump's anti-democratic playbook. Labour MPs should make clear to the PM they won't let him sell out our NHS, undercut farmers or weaken protection for children online. He must give Parliament a vote.

Jon Stewart admits folks here were right & he wasn't: "I did not think he would get this authoritarian this fast. I really didn't. I'm sorry. Who could have known? Maybe if someone out there had yelled at me on Bluesky about this, I would have known. But no one did. Except every day. In all caps."

"Within minutes after DOGE accessed the NLRB's systems, someone with an IP address in Russia started trying to log in ... Whoever was attempting to log in was using one of the newly created DOGE accounts — and the person had the correct username and password"

This seems to me very good grounds for sending Trouser Trumpet to El Salvador.

total clarity here from @edwardluce.bsky.social www.ft.com/content/4c4b...

One of hundreds of people abducted by ICE and sold to slavery in El Salvador was a 19 year old with no criminal record in the US or Venezuela and no tattoos of any kind. An ICE kidnapper who grabbed him outside his house said, "He's not the one." The other said, "Take him anyway." So they did.

🚨Some major errors & misleading claims from experienced presenter Nick Robinson on BBC Radio 4 Today, when discussing British Steel with Treasury Minister James Murray I hope these are corrected on tomorrow's programme, and Robinson sticks to the facts in future. Here's what he got wrong... 🧵

There's been plenty of hyperventilating in some UK media outlets about solar farm taking over 'productive farm land' and endangering food security But in fact the ambitious 2030 targets will cover only 0.4% of land, compared with golf courses covering 0.5% www.thetimes.com/uk/environme...

'The activity seems to decrease substantially over short periods of time. This would likely limit the application of this system in a real industrial scale,’ he adds.

Battery materials producers across the globe are hitting the brakes on expansion plans. Umicore, LG Chem, and other firms say that subdued demand for electric vehicles and uncertainty about policies supporting the battery industry are forcing them to pull back. cen.acs.org/energy/energ...

THREAD: The Trump administration's DOJ has removed a study from the NIJ website that found that immigrants, and particularly undocumented immigrants, commit crimes at significantly lower rates than U.S. citizens. The study is at odds with the Trump regime's propaganda about immigrants & crime. (1)

I had a joke about Elektra. I could never tell it in the afternoon.

Insurance gives you peace of mind - until you claim part 94 bit.ly/4ju8fAq the industry has stopped publishing figures for how many claims are paid out. When it last did they showed 1 in 11 critical illness claims was refused. And 1 in 3 total permanent disability claims

BREAKING: The government is hugely concerned that if the nationalisation of British Steel is a success, they won't have any excuse not to nationalise water, energy and rail x

Michael Gove used to ban teachers from their profession for life for drug use. He got caught taking cocaine and a few years later he's getting a peerage? It's as clear as day that drug laws are just there to punish the working class.
