Same... We waited too long last year to get the COVID shot for our family, my son brought it home from school and first symptoms showed up on Thanksgiving day around all the family. The rest of us started showing within 24 hours, thankfully none of our extended family caught it.

Honestly, when I see anyone wearing a mask, I assume that they are immunocompromised and give them room out of respect. At the height of the pandemic it drove me nuts that people wouldn't follow social distance guidelines and would crowd up to me. I don't want to be "that guy".

I am also on Mastodon, and guess what? The problem you are describing isn't one that's happening often if at all. If the instance you're on is being run by a bunch of spoiled children, migrate to a more stable one run by more mature people. The protocols provide the mechanism to do so.
