When families struggle to afford basic needs, babies suffer. And nearly 1 in 5 babies & toddlers are impacted by economic insecurity. For young children, economic insecurity brings inadequate housing, food insecurity & familial stress, which all pose a risk to babies’ developing brains and bodies.

Congress is proposing drastic cuts to programs that provide babies and families with healthcare, child care, food and economic security. The House is voting on a budget later today. Urge your Members of Congress to vote ‘no’ on budget cuts that will harm infants and toddlers.

A message from our executive director: ZERO TO THREE is deeply concerned about the reported staff reductions within the Administration for Children and Families, particularly the significant impact on offices overseeing early childhood programs. 1/5

For infants and young children, mental health and physical health are intertwined, just as they are for adults. Infants and toddlers can’t always express their mental health struggles in words, but they communicate through physical symptoms and changes in behavior.

Programs like HealthySteps not only provide developmental guidance and support for families, they also help connect caregivers with external resources (like early intervention services), including navigating eligibility and referral hurdles. This article highlights why that is so important 👇

We look forward to working together as a nation in the weeks, months and years ahead to ensure every baby has a strong start in life.
