“The U.S. Department of Agriculture said Tuesday that, over the weekend, it accidentally fired "several" agency employees who are working on the federal government's response to the H5N1 avian flu outbreak. The agency said it is now trying to quickly reverse the firings.”

Trump firing the 300 people who oversee our nation’s nuclear weapons stockpile and then realizing the gravity of his mistake before trying to backtrack is a perfect encapsulation of how is dangerous incompetence is putting the entire world at risk. Don’t let anyone forget it.

"One SBA employee who received a termination notice for poor performance said the letter arrived despite not yet working a single day for the agency." Legal pretextualism: the administration pretends they are following the law assuming some Trump court will agree. www.govexec.com/workforce/20...

Are they waving a hand around with the fingers crossed?

It's weirdly difficult to remember that Trump's popular vote margin was /less/ than Hillary's in 2016. Biden got more votes in 2020 than Trump got in 2024 and Trump surrogates all under-performed in congressional races. This is not a mandate, I don't get why it is being portrayed that way.

I’m pretty sure @petebuttigieg.bsky.social has better things to do with his time, but boy, what a great dream!

Go Colorado!

Great book that every student above grade 7 should be reading.

Scoop: DOGE's Edward "Big Balls" Coristine launched a privacy-focused image-sharing site in 2021 that allowed users to create custom URLs. The URLs that redirected to Coristine's site referenced the sale of child sexual abuse material, racial slurs, and rape www.muskwatch.com/p/doge-teen-...

Holy crap.

NEW from me: Russ Vought was on the verge of breaking the mortgage market by shutting down a core function provided by CFPB. But he blinked, and in so doing revealed that regulation is actually pretty important. prospect.org/economy/2025...

Imagine if @aoc @sanders.senate.gov , every dem, SIMULTANEOUSLY held Town Halls where they allowed grant and contract recipients to explain to the country what it is they do and why it's important Invite all media. Including RW podcasters. @spaces Flood the zone Call it a Day Of Transparency

This is basically the same pattern we see with allegations of election fraud: managing election data is complex, and require specific system knowledge. People who don't understand the dynamics of the system assume workarounds, redundancy and quirks are FRAUD and refuse to talk to be disabused.

This work is too important not to share! Glad the authors are pushing to still get it peer-reviewed and published. 🧪

Speechless.

Words have failed me so many times the last month, but now it’s happened again
