Which is a weird thing to remember from a modern perspective, that you could run a program which could independently connect to and receive data from another system over a standard phone line, but with no actual Internet connection.

Sure, we could have made lots of laws in the last four years to prevent abuse of presidential power, but that would have been mean. That would be saying that we don't trust the next president to play fair, it would have made them feel bad about not getting the "Least confrontational player" award.

Probably, I think it comes down to a lot of people who make playing a game their whole thing. It stops being about fun and only about winning. I'm not sure if the entitlement is the same in other gaming communities though, but man it ever a thing with dbd.

Yeah, my research is showing me it's an older issue with non-chrome, which I'm sure aren't magically becoming less compatible now that everyone dumped chrome.
