It's been a few years since I started dipping my feet into #CFD and fluid dynamics theory. For every paper that we published we had to show that in limits where theory is applicable our numerical results had to match theory. Sometimes it's easy sometimes we found bugs 🐜.

Während in Bonn die Klimakonferenz vorbereitet wird, distanziert sich Wirtschaftsministerin Reiche von den Klimazielen 2030, 2035 & Klimaneutralität 2045. Das passiert einfach so. Ohne Aufschrei, ohne viel Medienbegleitung. Die Union sieht das & räumt parallel ein 🇪🇺Klimagesetz nach dem anderen ab.

Last week I had the whole week off. It was a welcome change 😊. Yesterday started with a meeting a hard deadline for a 40 page report and a 30 page paper and some other tasks that are better done now. That said I happy and satisfied with the fact that we have AC installed 🧊🌬️ (temp outside > 30°C)

Man kann übrigens der Meinung sein, dass "all cops are bastards" keine subtile, strukturelle Kritik, sondern ein dummer, pauschaler Angriff auf die Polizei ist, und gleichzeitig sehen, dass die Bedrohung des demokratischen Rechtsstaats derzeit von anderswo kommt, nicht von Leuten mit #ACAB Pullover.

Last week was a short one here in AT 🇦🇹. Was only in the office from Monday to Wednesday, but that three day were packed. Had to do an internal presentation, and while I was able to convince our external partners about a fact, internal there is some more talking needed... 🙄 #highshear, #proteins

The second try to get smoothen particle hydrodynamics simulations running was a success 😆. Now the only problem is that physics is wrong. Why are there so many wall parameters in this specific solver but non of them is called no-slip 🙄 #CFD #SPH #Poiseuille

Genau dieses Leistungs-Gerede ist leistungsfeindlich. Weil es nämlich einen großen Teil der Leistungen ausblendet. Abseits bezahlter Arbeitszeit wird nicht bloß herumgelegen und gefaulenzt. Da werden auch Kinder erzogen, Kranke gepflegt, Kultur geschaffen, Ideen entwickelt. (Thread)

At the end of April, #Netflix removed #Psych from their platform here in Austria. As a result, my girlfriend and I have watched seven out of eight episodes of The Residence so far. I have to say that I really like the setting and the main character. (Damn netflix we had 3 Psych episodes left...)

Last #Thursday was finally time for the Business Run Graz and I have to say I was impressed by the sheer amount of people who took part. Had a lot of fun and enjoyed the 5k, got a #PB but it was a net negative elevation route. Super happy to see so many colleagues taking part 😊. #RCPE #running

May 2025 has started amazingly. First I got promoted to be group leader. The Research Center Pharmaceutical Engineering is divided into three Areas. Anything that has to do with simulations is Area I, where I now lead the computational fluid dynamics group 😊.

Ich finde es immer etwas befremdlich, wenn wie jetzt beim Aufweichen von 🇪🇺-CO2-Zielen für Autos, von "Luft zum Atmen" oder "mehr Spielraum" für die Autohersteller gesprochen wird. De facto sorgt das für mehr Schadstoffe & höhere Gesundheitskostem, mehr CO2-Emissionen & stärkere Klimafolgen.

it's jolting how little AI skepticism has reached the general public. i've had many acquaintances ask whether i use AI for research and seem shocked when i tell them it's completely useless for that purpose. my wife recently told her colleagues about hallucinations and it was news to all of them.

This coming Thursday is the Raiffeisen Businesslauf in #Graz. After hearing multiple times that we cannot participate I am super happy that in the end it worked out and that around 25 people from the RCPE signed up. Looking forward to nice discussions and hopefully a new 5k PB.

Yesterday was a public holiday in Austria and I used it to get my first outdoor #bikeride of the year. Weather was perfect, sunny with a little breeze. When I put together my stuff I couldn't find any tire levers, but I had a spare tube with me. Guess who's tube punctured 🙈🚴‍♂️

#Yesterday was an interesting day. I was in Vienna for private reasons and enjoyed the art exhibitions at lower Belvedere. Was blown away by "Die Welt in Farben, Slowenische Malerei 1848−1918". But even before the ÖBB got us to Vienna I got Email from #JCP that our #paper has been #accepted 😊
