Thanks shout-out, @aoc.bsky.social! In addition to defeating another anti-trans bill today, Montana Dems passed: - Tenant protections (refunding unused rental app fees) - Early childhood math education - Indian Ed for All improvements (& Language preservation) - Improved car seat safety standards

Kilmar Abrego Garcia has been sitting in a Salvadoran prison for over a month because the Trump Admin made a mistake. Now, the Admin is defying SCOTUS & refusing to bring him back. If we allow Trump to violate Kilmar's rights, none of our rights are safe. Kilmar is all of us.

Bone chilling. A court ordered Kilmar Abrego Garcia to stay in the United States. The Supreme Court ruled 9-0 that he was illegally removed. Trump is pretending he won the ruling 9-0. 1/ You may not think this case means anything to you. But let me tell you why it does.

To everyone who asked me how I relax after a brutal day in the legislature, the answer is @summoningsalt.bsky.social's speedrunning videos. Painting while watching the latest "History of [Insert Game] World Records is my happy place.

Montana just killed a bill banning chemtrails. I'm not sure how this conspiracy theory fueled bill made it through the senate, and through the House Natural Resources committee...but at least it's dead now. A victory for common sense

Too many bills! We're debating and voting on 60 different bills today on the House Floor 💫😵💫

Ask and you shall receive 💅 A bill authorizing the use of chaplains in public schools as counselors was just defeated in House Education committee. Proponents argued that Americans had freedom OF religion, not freedom FROM religion. Opponents correctly noted that this was wildly unconstitutional.

Zooey is doing WORK in Montana and teaching everyone several lessons: 1) You can stand on your values as a Democrat and not harm trans people. 2) Doing so can actually move hearts and minds in a traditionally conservative state. 3) There is value in having representation in our halls of power.

Two more wins for trans people in Montana! (1) A bill creating a new "indecent exposure" crime for trans people was amended to remove the anti-trans provision. (2) A bill allowing detransitoners to sue their doctor was amended to only be valid if the doctors didn't follow medical best practices.

Montana has just passed Indiginous People's Day! The sponsor—Senator Shane Morigeau—has been working on this for a long time. Glad to see bipartisan support for this wonderful bill!

1. Major victory in Montana. 17 Republicans crossed party lines after a strong speech from Representative Howell to defeat a bill that would have charged parents, even those passing through the state, with felony child endangerment for their trans youth. Subscribe to support my journalism.

The tide is changing in Montana! Today, 17 Republicans joined with democrats to defeat another anti-trans bill in the MT house. Additionally, Republicans joined democrats to kill a "forced outing" bill in House Education yesterday. That's 2/2 in defeating anti trans bills this week!

When @erininthemorning.com and I visited Los Angeles in March, @karenhan.bsky.social captured this lovely photo of us at brunch. I love my wife so much, and am so blessed to have such wonderful friends. 😭

Great showing at Missoula's Hands Off rally today! It was an honor to get to speak briefly, and to introduce the folks doing amazing work on the ground here in Missoula.

Hope it was worth it to stop a few of us from peeing.

sir don't touch that, that's load bearing wokeness, we need that.

ChatGPT ass presidency

In November, Montana voted to codify access to abortion in our state constitution. Today, every Republican voted—TWICE—to make it harder for voters to change our state constitution. (Fear not: The bill will die, as the legislature needs a supermajority to create ballot initiatives w/o the voters.)

We just heard an "age verification" bill in Montana, and the argument for how it would work was exactly as @evangreer.bsky.social describes—anytime you want to access social media (or an online forum), you would have to scan your face & Artificial Intelligence would guess your age. Truly horrifying

TTRPG: I play D&D weekly. And have some fun D&D summer plans. 👀 Board Games: @erininthemorning.com and I have ongoing games of both Frosthaven & ISS Vanguard. Video Games: I used to play Super Smash Brothers competitively. Also, Erin & I play Stardew Valley, Sea of Thieves, and more with our son.

This campaign has been absolutely brutal. We've had two resurrection attempts. Needed to roll a 3 each time to succeed. Rolled a Nat1 both times.

Montana's anti-trans bathroom ban is BLOCKED by the courts. The judge finds that the ban was "motivated by animus" and that it showed no evidence that it protects safety and privacy.

Victory for hunting in Montana 🦌 We're debating the state budget today, and we just approved an amendment to fund 7 FTEs across the state for the purpose of in-person hunter education & training.

I guess Elon Musk can't buy every election. Congratulations to Wisconsin, a state that continues to impress with their legislative and judicial election results. (I say that begrudgingly as someone who has a lot of family from Minnesota)

Amazing news. The Montana House just killed a bill that would've made judicial elections partisan. These bills keep cropping up, and we keep smacking them down. Proud of all the Dems for standing up against the efforts to politicize our Judiciary. And grateful to the Republicans who joined us.
